Abstract
In the coastal region of Ecuador, five species of Leishmania affect humans, with a well documented broad spectrum of skin lesions and lymphatic involvement. Mucosal lesions of the rhino-oropharyngeal and laryngeal areas are not reported frequently. We present four cases from the coastal region with this condition, as follows: 1) mucosal injury that occurred after 25 years of the skin lesion, 2) the scars of the skin on the face and nasal mucosa lesions located closely to each other,3) serious injuries throughout the area, including the larynx, 4) skin lesions in the leg and nose after seven years. This report aims to update the differential diagnosis for this disease and hence providebetter treatment and prognosis for these patients.
