Abstract

The living microorganisms can be magnified through microscope in the determination of size, shape, motility, and the other characteristics. Motile bacteria move with the help of flagella. Both living and non-living microorganisms can be identified using microscopic preparations. Microscopic examination of microorganisms can also allow magnification of morphological appearance of cell: size and natural shape of cells. Direct microscopic examination of fungi will reveal branching hyphae, budding, or both. The direct microscopic method makes it possible for milk or certain milk products to be examined for numbers of bacteria or somatic cells. Microscopic preparations performed in this practice are wet-mount and hanging-drop.
