Abstract

The dialogue between the traditional images, like sculptures, and its possible interface with thechnique images, virtual and digital, are tool and aid to conservation-restoration works of cultural heritage. This study aims to reflect how digital technology helps in the preservation and survival of a work of art, since their reproduction ratifies the course of the same. The methodology applied was to analyze, from some examples of wooden policromade sculptures, the affinity between the traditional images and current technologies, with the assumption of the role of various materialities of conservation and restores. By means of reproduction and scanning programmes, it immortalizes the memory of a work and enables new approaches and experiences.
