Abstract
Internal conversion coefficients were measured and subsequently multipolarity assignments were made for several transitions of 227Ac. The K- and/or L-shell internal conversion coefficients of the 313·0, 330·2, 341·0, and 356·6 keV transitions in 227Ac were determined using calibrated Ge(Li) and Si(Li) spectrometers. Results indicate that the 313·0 transition is a retarded El transition giving rise to a predominantly M2 radiation character. The 330·2 keV transition is a mixture of M1 + E2 radiation, and the 356·6 keV transition is essentially pure M1. It was determined that the 341·0 keV transition probably has E1 + M2 radiation character. Implications of these results on the decay scheme are discussed.
