Abstract
A digital speckle pattern interferometry system with automatic data analysis is used to measure the near-tip in-plane displacement field in a stainless steel specimen previously cracked by a fatigue test. In-plane displacements over a zone of 3.15 mm×3.15 mm are determined through the evaluation of the optical phase distribution. A theoretical solution developed for elasto-plastic materials is used to evaluate the obtained experimental results.
