Abstract

This article highlights the importance for Higher Education of promoting, generating and disseminating knowledge through research, as well as the many services it provides to the community by providing appropriate technical skills to contribute to the cultural, social and economic development of society. Indeed, it is vital to encourage and develop scientific and technological research, as well as research in the field of the social sciences, humanities and creative arts. The Universidad Laica "Eloy Alfaro" of Manabi, Ecuador (ULEAM), has as part of its mission, a permanent commitment to national development through scientific and social research. In its vision, the formation of specialized professionals with extensive scientific knowledge and skills in professional practices is highlighted. The above is framed in the second sub-criterion of evaluation called research praxis and considers the basic factors that allow establishing the intensity or level of implementation of research policies. Therefore, the problem of how to develop skills as a procedure in the basic formation of the Industrial Engineer is approached from the subject Technical Drawing from the valued definitions, to later evaluate the conceptual and operational structure of this skill, taking into consideration the definition offered of the concept of professional skills in the initial formation of the Industrial Engineering career of the Universidad Laica "Eloy Alfaro" of Manabi.
