Abstract
Abstract Growers in Maximum Economic Yield (MEY) clubs were found to be prophylactically treating by adding an insecticide to fungicide applications when protecting wheat. This is the fourth trial over 3 years at 1 of 2 MN experiment stations. Plots were established at the Northwest Experiment Station, Crookston, MN. Pathways of 1.8 m were removed from around a 7.6 m × 15.3 m plot just prior to treatment. Treatments were arranged in a Latin Square design with 4 replications. A combination application of insecticide and fungicide was made on 17 Jun (wheat stage Feekes = 8). Approximately 110 liter/ha of total material was applied at a pressure of 7 kg/cm2 using a hydraulic plot sprayer. Yields were obtained by combining a strip (1.5 m × 15.3 m) through the long axis of each plot. Yield, moisture, test weight, and protein were taken. Only yields, as adjusted to a standard moisture, are reported.
