Abstract

The object of the study was youth slang among schoolchildren and students of two universities in Bishkek. Youth slang is a layer of lexical units that reflect the specifics of the functioning of one of the levels of the Russian language. The article presents some aspects of the emergence of the concept of slang and changes in its meaning, focusing on the word-formation possibilities of youth slang. The author considers various ways of forming words in Russian youth slang. The paper attempts to identify and reveal the possibilities of slang to reflect and reproduce the patterns of functioning of the native language.
