Abstract

In this paper an average multi-level representation of power electronic converters is used to design a dynamic model of a microturbine generator in an islanded microgrid application. A dedicated multi-level modeling is designed to quantify energy variations in storage elements (rotating mass, DC bus) and various losses. We demonstrate that this model is sufficient to design the control system of the entire power generation system, meanwhile the microturbine, the synchronous generator and the frequency converter. The proposed global model is simulated with the help of Matlab-Simulink ™ by considering a Capstone C330 microturbine in islanded mode.
