Abstract

Mineral resources are in situ concentration of minerals existing on or in the Earth’s crust that eventually may become ore reserves, primary sources for economic extraction. The key functions are estimation of quantity (tonnage) and quality (percent mineral or metal content), classification scheme and reporting codes. The various time-tested traditional estimation procedures are based on complexity of mineralization, exploration techniques, sampling type and adequacy. The methods are old style, triangular, square, rectangle, polygonal, isopach, isograde, cross-section, longitudinal section, level plan and inverse power of distance.
