Abstract

This chapter describes the current analytical methods for the determination of pesticide residues in fruit and vegetable samples by liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS). Fruit and vegetable samples are complex matrices, and determination of pesticide residues in these matrices poses remarkable challenges, due to the small quantity of analytes and large amount of matrix interferences. The interferences may adversely affect the column and other instrumental components. Hence, a residue chemist needs to develop a new methodology for the determination of a maximum number of pesticide residues in a single run with less matrix interferences and short analysis run time. This chapter outlines the effective approach for the determination of pesticide residues in fruit and vegetable samples.
