Abstract
The biology of cancer is explained and the mode of action of anticancer drugs in relation to cell division and expression of specific changes in the regulation of cell growth that are amenable to targeted therapies. The mechanisms of action and toxicities of cytotoxic anticancer drugs and the sites of action of various targeted therapies are discussed in detail.
