Abstract
The chapter discusses in detail about various commonly used membrane preparation and characterization techniques, especially with regard to membranes used in thermal induced membrane separation processes. The first section of the chapter covers the various membrane preparation techniques. Further, the common membrane modification techniques for various types of membranes are discussed in detail. Later, the selection of membrane material and membranes for a particular thermal induced membrane separation process is discussed emphasizing the role and importance of the two. Lastly, different types of commonly used membrane characterization techniques are discussed.
