Abstract

The chapter describes various features of thermal induced membrane separation processes regarding theoretical aspects, design, and modeling. The first few sections of the chapter discusses about the basics of the theory, design, and modeling of the thermal induced membrane separation processes. Thereafter, the basic driving forces involved in the thermal induced membrane separation processes are discussed, importantly the heat and mass transfer involved. Further, effect of various operating conditions on thermal induced membrane separation processes is discussed. Lastly, molecular dynamic simulations and various membrane configurations along with the role of membrane surface in terms of hydrophobicity and membrane wettability are discussed in detail.
