Abstract
Alcohol-induced liver damage and the intervention effect of Yinchenhao Tang (YCHT) were characterizing by a metabolomics approach. Urinary samples were analyzed by ultraperformance liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization quadruple time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC/ESI-QTOF-MS) in positive ionization mode. Total ion chromatograms (TIC) obtained from the control, alcohol, and YCHT treated rats were readily distinguishable using a multivariate statistical analysis method. The greatest difference in metabolic profiling was observed from the alcohol treated rats, when compared to the control, and the YCHT treated rats. The ceramide (d18:1/25:0), provides further support for an involvement of the sphingomyelin signaling pathway in alcohol liver damage, and the intervention effects of YCHT.
