Abstract

Metabolic profiling and biomarkers of great significance are urgently needed, given the poor diagnosis of XinQiXu (XQX) Syndrome that is one of the most important types of heart disease due its high incidence and mortality rates. Metabolomics can offer the possibility of identifying marker metabolites and pathways activated in XQX. The aim of this study is to discuss the global characteristics of urine metabolites in XQX syndrome, and to explore the composition and concentration changes of urine biomarkers. Serum biochemical analysis and histopathological examinations were simultaneously performed. Global metabolic profiling with UPLC/MS, and multivariate analysis were performed to discover the differentiating metabolites. Seventeen biomarkers were identified and pathway analysis tools suggest that the glycolysis or gluconeogenesis metabolism, biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids metabolism, fatty acid biosynthesis, and purine metabolism networks were acutely perturbed by XQX.
