Abstract
The importance of documentation of inspection testing and maintenance cannot be overemphasized. One method to ensure compliance is to follow a systematic framework based on a calendar year. The required annual inspection, testing, and maintenance of the fire alarm system should be completed by a qualified technician. In addition to the monthly “Focus,” there are ongoing specific weekly and monthly inspections and checks that must be documented for the facility to remain code-compliant. This chapter gives a month-to-month example of a framework, covering all required maintenance, inspection, and testing. This system could be used by a facility to ensure code compliance by concentrating on a particular category or “Focus” for any given month.
