Abstract

Observing the social challenges presented by the de facto way of doing sustainability research and the possible unintended consequences in maintaining the status quo. Recently there has been a recognition of neglect to mention issues related to colonization and imperialism in the field of sustainability in research. To decolonize research the scientific community will have to create an inclusive environment for particularly the racialized and marginalized groups. A critical reflection shows the scientific community that there has to be changed to create a more inclusive community and a decolonized scientific system.
