Abstract
This paper reports on investigations conducted with a view to solving industrial problems involving the detection of stress-corrosion cracking. Comparisons are drawn of the relative effectiveness of dye penetrant, magnetic particle, radiography and ultrasonic tests in the examination of butt welds, inside fillet welds and lap welds. The development of a method combining ultrasonic and magnetic particle tests is discussed.
