Abstract
The rapid development of science and technology and the advent of the information age provide reliable conditions and guarantee for the modernization of the teaching means. It also provide a rich resources for English education, especially for the advanced English courses. How to introduce multimedia technology and combine it with the advanced English courses to reform the traditional teaching means is a significant problem in English education. This paper firstly introduces the background of multimedia technology, including its concept, types and features, which laying the groundwork for its applications in advanced English education. Then this paper analyzes in details, with concrete examples, how to apply multimedia technology in the English class. Lastly, the advantages of the advanced English education with multimedia technology are presented compared with the traditional way, including that it makes the courses more diverse, interesting, intuitive and rich, and the students are more interested in English.
