Abstract

With the arrival of the higher education informatization, teaching mode, teaching content and teaching forms are seeking continuous innovation. Blended learning is seasonably rendered and enhanced flexibly by the forceful Information Technology Support. It offers plentiful benefits to university students as of learners, particularly those who cannot afford themselves to attend face to face tutorials. This paper reports a successful blended learning model designed on Advanced English Course from the stages of pre-class, online class and post-class, so as to provide suggestion for English teaching in future. This design not only meets the requirements of students' autonomous and personalized learning, but also reflects the supervision and guidance of traditional teaching, learners benefit greatly from the independent and collaborative learning experiences. The results show that blended learning achieves better learning results than the traditional means. Learning resources, learning activities, learning materials, formative evaluation and other teaching elements should be taken into serious consideration. The paper first defines the terms of student support and blended learning and its pros and cons. Then, it outlines and highlights three stages of blended learning construction; last, it focuses more specifically on the research design of Advanced English Course, to be exact, how to do an effective blended learning design on advanced English, and how to reduce corporate learning costs using a blended learning strategy.
