Abstract
As many Personnel Managers in Australia are pondering the feasibility of introducing computerised personnel information systems into their organisations a number of ‘HRM’ readers might be interested to trace the steps taken by Miss Lynne Collins in her investigation on behalf of the Management at Woolworths. Whilst Miss Collins was on secondment to Woolworths from the Commonwealth Public Service under the auspices of the Executive Interchange Program she studied what the company wanted from a computerised personnel information system and how it might develop, introduce and manage information system and how it might develop, introduce and manage a system in line with the company's requirements. Later Miss Collins outlined the main phases of her study to 130 people attending an IPMA, N.S. W. Divisions' Seminar on the topic.
