Abstract
This paper aims to comprehensively review recent publications on the intermetallic compounds (IMCs) of Fe-Al joints by laser welding, with a primary focus on understanding the mechanism behind IMCs formation in the interface, especially for the Fe2Al5 phase. Accordingly, the influence of the distribution and size of intermetallic compounds (IMCs) on the performance of Fe–Al joints has been concluded. Thus, the corresponding control strategies are summarized to effectively improve the performance of Fe–Al joints. Such as parameters optimization, external enhancements and alloying elements. Consequently, this paper summarizes the study of intermetallic compounds in laser-welded Fe–Al joint, offering valuable insights into future trends and developments.
