A Homoleptic Cuprate(II) Complex with Deprotonated 1,6-Anhydro-β-D-glucose (Levoglucosan) Ligands

Abstract

The cuprate anion in the title complex, dilithium bis[1,6-anhydro-β-d-glucosidato(2−)-O2,O4]cuprate(II) octahydrate, Li2[Cu(C6H8O5)2].8H2O, is a homoleptic mononuclear 1,3-polyolato(2-) complex. The ligator atoms of the levoglucosan ligand are closer together by ca 0.4 Å with respect to the uncomplexed 1,3-diol moiety of the anhydro sugar, thus exhibiting an enhanced flexibility compared with 1,2-diols.
