Abstract

There are throughout the world a number of sets of design rules for fatigue loaded tubular structures. They have been prepared principally for offshore structures and therefore include in some cases the effect of the seawater environment as at present understood. The rules most extensively used are those of the United Kingdom Government, British Standards Institution, the American Petroleum Institute, the American Welding Society and Det Norske Veritas of Norway.
