Abstract

Since the inception of the Internet, research has been accessible. With accessibility comes the student’s inclination to use sources that might not be as valid for research as other sources with extensive research. Research requires time and the searching of empirical data to form and support an opinion. Research requires students to become part of the scholarly field and contribute their ideas. Some students are often confused in this area. They do not understand how to approach research, paraphrase, and form opinions, often objectively. In the e-classroom, academic research is required for some assignments and students have to understand its validity. Credible research is not simply a click away online. Researching at the scholarly level requires commitment to assessing the data. Students will be introduced to scholarly research, the importance of asking epistemological questions, and stressors that can often influence quality research, and will participate in activities that allow them to explore these topics. The stress P example will provide some perspective on managing stress as an adult learner to submit quality work. This chapter concludes with a detailed review of quality writing in academia.
