Abstract

A clear indicator that the adult student is committed to a degree is when the student has a clear vision of his or her goals and has identified specific values. Success and values are measured differently. For the ethical student, following what is presently the acceptable protocol and procedures is morally apparent. In addition, the ethical student is learning with a purpose, not simply learning the content to pass the course. The final chapter provides diverse student perspectives about success and values. Students review information on motivation and learning with a purpose. Scenarios where choices were made that did not highlight a commitment to class will be exemplified along with reflective activities. This chapter concludes with a list of ethical behavioural patterns in the online environment that could help ensure students’ success rates.
