Abstract

For ascertaining the significant parameters influencing the chloride induced corrosion of steel in concrete a concrete corrosion testing cell has been developed. The macrocell currents which are in proper proportion to the rate of metal removed by corrosion can directly be measured between two steel electrodes in concrete. The results show that the processes caused by the chloride induced corrosion of steel in concrete are amenable to measurement in a way relevant to the conditions in actual practise.
