Abstract
This paper presents practical design life categories to be used for designing load-bearing structures and some special considerations concerning optimum safety of temporary structures and monumental edifices respectively. It takes into account changing in structural resistances, variance in maximum load distributions and difference in discount coefficients all of them as results of changing in design life.
