Abstract

This chapter reviews both basic and complex sets of tools that help in running online training on the Linux desktop. Training enabling tools are generally standalone tools. Most of the training tools are designed to run on Microsoft Windows. However, some companies, such as Mindleaders Inc., have tools for all operating systems available. A small list of computer or web-based training tools covered in this chapter include: WebEx, LiveMeeting, CCNA, Cisco CCNA Network Simulator, and Sybex CCNAGold virtual router lab software. Training tools, under CrossOver Office, are not necessarily supported by CodeWeavers or even the tool vendor, so using these training tools can be a risk. However, the Wine open source community is very active and with a little investigation into wine, many of the issues faced can easily be solved. Since most of the training is currently delivered over the web, many of the training enabling tools therefore, are a part of Linux and with the growing use of Wine, even more tools can become available for use.
