Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to transform conventional binder-based mortar into high-technology binder-based mortar (HTBBM) using graphite nanoparticles (GNPs). Therefore this chapter presents the conventional binder mortar and its relative properties and HTBBM using GNPs and its relative properties. For preparing conventional binder mortar the mixing materials used are gray cement, white cement, lime, gypsum, mortar sand, and water. To manufacture HTBBM, GNPs are also added on mixing materials aforementioned. Since physical and mechanical tests were carried out on both conventional mortar and HTBBM to international ASTM and BS standards, the results of the chapter would be repeated by any accredited laboratory. Results reveal that GNPs are a useful nanotechnological supplement to make conventional binder material transform into HTBBM. With activation effect of GNPs the conventional CEM I 32.5N cement obtained the properties of CEM I 42.5N cement at 180 days.
