Abstract
This chapter highlights ANSI standards of flanges. According to ANSI standards, each flange is stamped with identifying marks. Different types of ANSI flanges include: weldneck flange, slip-on and Lap joint flange, threaded flange, socket weld flange, reducing flange, and blind flange. Material control of flanges include, its receiving, applying commodity code number, storage, and their shipping. Flange is verified to conform the purchase order specifications. Special care is extended to the flange facing during storage or shipments to other areas. The technical descriptions of flange are accounted in a company's computer master. When flanges are to be shipped to other locations, the flange face is protected with a flange protector, and the beveled end with an end protector. Different ANSI flange bolt include, stud bolts and machine bolt. A stud bolt diameter is measured by the thickness of the heavy hex nut and length from thread-to-thread. The length of a machine bolt is measured from the underside of the head to the end point.
