Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the distributions and characteristics of emotional resources of the five senses expressed in elementary school songs located in the island region of Jeollanam-do. 81 elementary schools in the island region and 87 elementary schools in the inland region in Jeollanam-do were analyzed for the emotional elements of the five senses expressed in the lyrics of school songs, school trees, and school flowers. Topography and water have the highest appearance rate of visual elements, and mountains have the highest frequency among the elements of topography. As for the visual elements of water, the frequency of the sea and waves in island regions and the frequency of rivers/streams in inland regions are prominent. The auditory elements are natural, human, and artificial elements, and the prominent elements are the sound of waves in the sea and the sound of water in rivers/streams in natural sound, the sound of singing and children in human sound, and the sound of a bell in artificial sound. The main element of the sense of smell is the scent of flowers and trees, and the hibiscus flower is a representative. The tactile elements are water, wind, rainstorm, and snowstorm, and the warm elements are warmth and light.
