Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the activity of prominent Ukrainian ballroom dance ensembles at the end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century and to trace the influence of their leaders on the trends in ballroom dancing and the reform of the system of professional choreographic education in Ukraine at the present stage. The research methodology consisted in the organic set of basic principles of research: objectivity, historicism, multifactorness, systematicity, complexity, development and pluralism; to fulfill the research purpose, the following methods of scientific knowledge were used: problem-chronological, concrete-historical, statistical, descriptive, and logical-analytical. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the study of the activity of prominent Ukrainian ballroom dance ensembles at the end of the 20th – the beginning of the 21st century in the context of the influence of their leaders on the trends in ballroom dancing and the reform of the system of choreographic education in Ukraine. Conclusions. The results of the conducted cultural research proved the undeniable influence of the leaders of prominent Ukrainian ballroom dance ensembles at the end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century on the trends in ballroom dancing and the reform of the system of professional choreographic education in Ukraine; the analysis of scientific and educational activity of the leaders and members of ballroom dance ensembles in higher educational institutions of arts made it possible to trace the influence of their activity on the development of professional choreographic education in Ukraine at the present stage.
