Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to understand This study aimed to find out changes in preservice elementary school teachers’ attitudes and concepts toward STEAM after applying STEAM teaching and learning program (lecture and worksheet developing activity). Through the STEAM teaching and learning program, they came to have positive perceptions toward ‘the effect of STEAM on education and society’ and ‘the attitude toward STEAM-related science learning’. Especially, pre-service teachers in natural science and engineering were found to have positive attitudes toward STEAM-related science and mathematics learning than pre-service teachers in humanities and social science. Moreover, it was analyzed that STEAM teaching and learning helped pre-service teachers improve their understanding of the STEAM concept, particularly pre-service teachers in natural science and engineering. However, this study found out that through STEAM teaching and learning, both the group of pre-service teachers in humanities and social science and the group of pre-service teachers in natural science and engineering came to have more integrated perceptions toward each domain of STEAM.
