Abstract

This study examined how transmedia content in the convergence era mutates and spreads around the 'active enjoyers' group. Furthermore, how the process can be theoretically established in terms of cultural research was analyzed through the case of BTS. The results of the study are as follows. First, the 'active enjoyer' is the subject of the network and acts voluntarily and cooperatively based on their creativity. Second, the process of forming, mutating, and spreading transmedia content by 'active enjoyers' can be schematized as 'content bonding(microcosmos), semi-bonding(segment and mutation), and superbonding(diffusion and big universe). Third, BTS's albums and contents, which are examples, were formed as a microcosmic growth narrative and divided into characters and media, and various episodes of the members were transformed and expanded to various media platforms through active performances of the enjoyers. Fourth, in the end, as the microcosmos passes through segmentation, variation, and diffusion, it forms big universe as an expanded world view of transmedia. It has been found that transmedia content can also have the same meaning as the creator.
