Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the current status of SW and AI-related subjects in universities’ basic liberal arts curriculum and to present recent trends and discussions. SW and AI-related competencies are basic skills required for both majors and non-major, and are considered a kind of literacy. Each university has designated SW and AI-related courses as essential credits that students must basically complete and quickly reflected them in the basic liberal arts curriculum. In this study, related information was collected and organized based on the latest brochure and website information of domestic universities that can be confirmed as the final starting point from March to April 2023. As a result, a total number of 30 universities in Korea were presented for analysis of the study, and each university showed various domain names, subject names, and required credits according to unique characteristics and directions related to SW and AI. Through this study, it will be possible to understand the overall trends of SW and AI education in basic liberal arts education at universities and to identify educational implications and discussions.
