Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the changing aspects of language and cultural contact, focusing on the case of Chinese translation of fandom terminology in the new Korean Wave. Following the craze of the new Korean Wave, new cases of language contact and translation are emerging, focusing on fandom terminology and expressions. Fragmentary Korean expressions, which used to be nothing more than a temporary trend among young people, have now been used for years. Furthermore, it is becoming established as a unique expression showing derivative expressions and formalized translation patterns. This paper first analyzed the translation cases of Chinese, which had a strong influence on the formation of the Chinese character cultural sphere, and as a result, several meaningful characteristics were derived. Based on this, it is worth noting that the formation of global fandom and the new language contact pattern centered on fandom terms have broken down Asian cultural boundaries and acted as an important medium for globalization.
