Abstract

The purpose of this study is to establish the concepts and content of Self-Healing in the field of Humanities Therapy through literature review and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The researcher conducted a review of literature and organized FGD with a group of experts in Humanities Therapy. The collected data were analyzed to derive concepts and meanings. The results reveal 4 main categories: “introspection as the agent of healing”, “becoming a subject from universal Self”, “Journeying towards coexistence”, and “restoration of creativity and imagination”. These categories are further divided into 8 subcategories: “being the subject from the object of healing”, “potential of transitioning from Self Therapy to Auto Therapy”, “Subjective truth over objective truth”, “Recognition of individuality in social, cultural, and political contexts”, “Coexistence as the essence of existence”, “Client-Therapist Coexistence and Growth”, “Expressing oneself verbally and non-verbally”, and “Generating narratives beyond rigid perceptions”. This study holds significance as the first conceptualization research on self-healing in Humanities Therapy. It is expected to serve as foundational material for exploring the meaning of self-healing experiences in subsequent cases of Humanities Therapy.
