Abstract

The purpose of this research is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the meaning of Korean language learning experiences of female marriage immigrants who participated in the KIIP(Korean Immigration and Intergration Program). For this purpose, in-depth interviews with married immigrant women in four or more levels were conducted using the narrative inquiry in qualitative research. As a result, the female marriage immigrants had the following common experiences: Korean as the first step toward the unknown world, Korean as the essential elements of a comfortable life, and Korean as the foundation of a future life. This research is meaningful and helpful for future Korean marriage immigrants by researching the Korean language learning experiences of female marriage immigrants in detail and looking in-depth at their past and present thoughts, and checking the parts that are not revealed in statistical results or quantitative studies.
