This study was to investigate the mediating effect of self-control on the relationship between future time perspective and agentic engagement of university students. The data of 229 university students were analyzed through SPSS and AMOS programs. Descriptive statistical analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and bootstrap analysis were conducted, and the fit of the research model was confirmed. The main results of this study are as follows. First, there was a significant positive correlation between future time perspective, self-control, and agentic engagement. Second, self-control had a full mediating effect on the relationship between future time perspective and agentic engagement. It suggests that future time perspective and self-control are factors that affect the agentic engagement, and is meaningful in that it confirms the psychological mechanism of agentic engagement of university students.
