Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine the current status of 'literary education' in the Korean language and literature major in Taiwan and to propose tasks for the activation of literary education. Universities in Taiwan that offer education in the Korean language and literature major all have a fundamental foundation for Korean literature education. However, despite this, there has been no research conducted specifically examining the aspects of Korean literature education in Taiwan. Therefore, this paper meticulously reviews the current status of Korean literature education at National Chengchi University (NCCU), Chinese Culture University (PCCU), and National Kaohsiung University (NKU) of Hospitality and Tourism, which are institutions conducting Korean language and literature education in Taiwan, focusing on the establishment of literary courses and their contents. Based on this analysis, the paper discusses tasks for the activation of literary education in the Korean language and literature major in Taiwan. With this initiative, we hope to contribute meaningfully to the development and growth of the Korean language and literature major in Taiwan, becoming a significant pillar alongside Korean language education.
