Abstract
This study examines the artistic expression of sexuality in British artist Allen Jones' (1937-) mannequin work from the perspectives of women, men, and society. Jones’ artworks became controversial for it shows perversive images using subculture in the theme of “Women and fetishism.” In particular, the bold silhouette of mannequins gave a shock to all art fields, including popular culture, with the development of pop art in the 1960s, and Jones presented the essence of first-generation British pop art in an American way. This study is meaningful in finding out how his spirit of convergence and experimental tendencies in these works of Jones influenced contemporary fashion, film, stage design, and cartoons.
