This paper takes “마땅하다-理应” as an example, using corpus-based research method to examine meaning units of the two words, and finds that “마땅하다” and “理应” show a high degree of consistency in collocation, semantic selection tendency, and semantic prosody. They can be regarded as translation equivalence units. Meanwhile, we also come to the following conclusions: data-based analysis of meaning units (extended meaning units and meaning shift units) is an effective way to determine translation equivalence. The collocations, semantic selection tendency, and colligation in the meaning units are all likely to have a key influence on translation equivalence, but semantic prosody is still the decisive factor in judging translation equivalence. Colligation in the analysis of meaning units can provide a clear grammatical framework for extracting collocation words and a more detailed classification approach for generalizing semantic selection tendency, semantic prosody and meaning-shift units, and can also have a direct impact on the semantic prosody of certain node words, that is, node words have a clear attitudinal meaning in certain colligations and construct semantic prosody with clear tendency.
