Research on the historic preservation of Zhaojiashan village

Through field investigation and field visiting, we studied and analyzed the ancient villages of Zhaojiashan in Jiancaoping District, Taiyuan City of Shanxi Province. We learned that Zhaojiashan Village is on the only way of the Shanxi Merchants The Tea Road starting from Taiyuan to Xinzhou. It occupies an indispensable and important position in camel road. There are many historical and cultural relics in the village. The analysis of the historical value and the environment of the village has provided the basis for the protection and exploitation of ancient villages.

The Present of Environmental Psychology Researches in China: Base on the Bibliometric Analysis and Knowledge Mapping

Environmental psychology is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on the interplay between individuals and their surroundings. Chinese researchers conducted extensive research on the field and produced a wealth of academic achievements, especially on the application of environmental psychology, such as the protection of minority towns and villages and the prevention and solution of air pollution. To reveal the current situation of the researches in China, 388 related papers from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were analyzed by bibliometric and Knowledge Mapping. The results show that: (1) these studies stared since 1982 and demonstrated a year-on-year growth trend since 2001, which reaches a historical peak in 2016. Peiwen Zhan, Hu Zhao and Xiaofeng Lu top the list with a total of eighteen articles and Heilongjiang University is the best performer among the contributing organizations. (2)“Environmental Psychology” is the most frequently cited keywords and “Environmental perception”, “Physical environment” and “living environment” have the longest span of the bursts. the top seven largest clusters, which were environment, surroundings, application, privacy, environmental perception environmental art and physical environment.

Research on Evaluation of Conservation Planning Implementation of Nanshe Historic Village in Dongguan City

Conservation planning plays an important role in the protection and development of historic villages. The evaluation of conservation planning is helpful to find out the problems existing in the village protection work which helps to improve the conservation planning system. The paper briefly summarizes the conservation planning background of Nanshe historic village in Dongguan city, Guangdong province, China. The conservation planning guided the protection work of Nanshe village since 2002. It evaluates four aspects of the conservation planning implementation and effect such as protection and utilization of the ancient buildings, roadway repair, landscape and basic sanitation facilities improvement by ways of field research and questionnaire survey. There are only nineteen ancient buildings repaired and the rest of them are part of repaired or not repaired. Most of the roadways are well preserved. Only four of them are partly repaired or not repaired. Most of the villagers like to chat under the ancient banyan trees. Conservation Planning pays not much attention to the needs of the residents. Although conservation planning of Nanshe village developed the near, middle and long term target it actually took 14 years to carry out the near target. It enhances the social awareness of Nanshe village and the sense of belongings of the villagers. Most of the villagers are satisfied with the implementation of the conservation planning. Meanwhile, the paper exposes the conservation planning is too idealistic. It lacks of implementation details and the three phases of the investment funds and pays not much attention to the needs of residents.

Analysis of Journal Papers about Studies of Ancient Chinese Villages

Based on CNKI database, the author has retrieved that, from 1989 to 2015, 318 papers about ancient village studies have been published in core Chinese journals. With literature statistical methods, the author analyzes and classifies the year and the number of studies, research themes, journals in which the papers are published, main creative units of such literature, core author group distribution and teases out there are 318 first authors and 12 main core authors as well as 11 core journals. The results show that ancient Chinese village landscape construction, ancient town settlement space type, traditional residential building space, village cultural landscape protection and sustainable development, reproduction of space environment of ancient villages, ancient village landscape planning, protection and development of ancient villages, the development and protection of the ancient village landscape are the hot spots in ancient villages researches in China and have made great achievements and progress.

Research on the localization method of protecting traditional village landscape: a case study on Tangyin

Abstract. China has over 271 million villages and less than the number in ten years ago in which there are 363 million villages. New rural construction indeed do some good for common villages but still destroy hundreds and thousands traditional village which contain great cultural, science, artistic values. In addition, traditional villages can't meet the increasing needs in more convenient and comfortable living conditions. Increasing population also makes traditional villages out of control in construction. With the background of this, we have to set up in traditional village protection. This article put forward an idea in protection which make use of landscape localization to pursue the sustainable development and vernacular landscape protection. Tangyin Town is a famous trade center in history and left many cultural heritage, especially historical buildings. Take Tangyin as a case study to apply the localization method which could guide other similar villages to achieve same goals.

Vliv poldrů na průběh povodní v povodí Tiché Orlice

Polders show an important water-management function in the flood-control protection of watersheds. The course of actual floods in recent decades and effects of the water works on flood flows have proved the suitability of the construction within integrated flood-control measures in particular watersheds of the Czech Republic. To determine the transformation effect of flood-control measures in watersheds mathematical modelling is an important method, which is used not only in the preparation and design of retention areas but also in dealing with the flood protection of towns and villages. Easy verification of other measures in watersheds is also useful. Their implementation can be thus prepared for the future or it is possible to back off the intentions. In our case, a fact is advantageous that the model is ope­ra­ted in the workplace of the Elbe Basin water-management dispatching centre, which is compatible with assessed polders in the partial Elbe watershed, namely in the Tichá Orlice watershed and its partial Třebovka watershed. The polders assessed are situated on the Třebovka stream, which is the lar­gest tributary of the Tichá Orlice river. These dry reservoirs and the increased protective function of the Hvězda pond affect runoff from about 80 km2. Within research activities, possibilities were studied to obtain necessary retention areas in existing small water reservoirs. It became evident that the only rea­lis­tic solution was to increase protective functions of the pond Hvězda. Its present total retention space of 1.4 million m3 can be increased only by 0.35 million m3, however, in combination with the sophisticated lay-out of a new emergency spillway and outlet the whole retention space can be used much more effectively. To obtain other retention areas localities were found out in the whole upper watershed of the Třebovka stream, which fulfilled requirements for placing the adequate capacity of polders. Subsequent modifications of the Třebovka channel in the most endangered villages and towns and their capacity design according to transformation effects of selected reservoirs and measures, determination of their effect and comparison with profiles on the Tichá Orlice are the content of the paper.

Value Analysis and Properties Investigation of High Performance Rice Husk Ash Concrete

During recent years, the Taiwan government launches issues of green building , sustainable engineering , carbon reduction and etc. , to promote balance construction and environment ecology. One of the most important materials in those engineering issues is cement which is used widely in construction industry. Cement emits 0.85 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) for each ton of cement used in average. This not only causes the waste of energy but also againsts the conception of environmental protection. This research uses the rice husk ash (RHA) which people always regards as the waste material as a pozzolanic material to replace part of cement to make high performance concrete (HPC). Then makes the value analysis and properties investigation for HPC. Based on this research, rice husk (RH) will contain lots of silicon dioxide (SiO2) after burning into RHA. If use RHA to replace part of cement, it can get appropriate properties of compressive strength and durability. More important is that by replacing part of cement, it not only will reduce the emission of CO2 and save money but also reach the goal of global village protection on earth.

Environmental Protection of Ancient Towns and Villages of China

China has a lot of ancient towns and villages that have been attracting international and domestic tourists. Tourism management in ancient towns and villages of China is crucial to delivering economic, social and environmental responsibility. The purpose of this paper is to describe and examine the problem of ancient towns and villages of China and to explain its underlying causes and the possibilities. Furthermore, the article argues that serious human damages, environmental pollution and ecological degradation are occurring ancient towns and villages at a rapid rate. The station has the potential to significantly undermine the prospects for tourism development of ancient towns and villages of China. In the light of this fact, it aims to make explicit the problem-solving principals, including the following recommendations: limiting business scope, infrastructure investment, green certification program, environmental education, inhabitant participation, and promoting tourism products. In the longer term, only when the stakeholders of ancient town and village tourism collaboration, will truly obtain integrated sustainable management.

Research on the Guidance for Traditional Village Protection and Development Based on Functionalism Perspective

Function is the basic attribute of villages and the buildings, and is also the basic guidance for the protection and development. The functions have become multi-dimensional and complex as era changes, and the changes of functions inevitably result in the initiative adaptation and the adjustment of buildings and the environment space. It is an original perspective for the research on the interactions between the functions and spaces of traditional villages, also for the analysis on the development of traditional villages, to explain the social and cultural phenomena on the aspects of space introducing the method of functionalism. In this paper, the important buildings and the environment spaces are divided into four types, taking a case study in a traditional village in the south of Zhejiang Province in China. This paper puts forward the basic guidance that village protection and development must be combined with the functions of living, environment, tourism and historical culture and meets the multi-demands of the tourists by improving the human habitation quality, protecting the traditional scenes and integrating the historical cultures and landscape spatial structure.

Special Paper: Voluntary and 'Official' Forest Protection Committees in Bihar: Solutions to India's Deforestation?

Particularly since India's Independence, concern about forest decline and opposition by forest-dependent populations to a perceived neglect and exploitation of local forests by the Forest Department has resulted, in certain areas, in the establishment of community-based forest protection committees. In Bihar, attempts to overcome the antagonistic Forest Department relations that prevailed during much of the 1980s, plus a recognition of the need to involve local people more in forest management and protection, have resulted in the establishment of the Bihar joint forest management programme. This aims to follow the example set by autonomous forest protection committees by setting up 'village protection and management committees' in degraded Protected forest areas. This paper, which stems from my doctoral fieldwork in the Jharkhand region of Bihar, will examine the issue of forest protection in light of three main issues. A first issue concerns the extent to which a strong historical sense of place and (particularly tribal) identity can be effective in mobilising an interest in and concern for local resource management and protection. A second issue concerns the degree to which traditional, charismatic village leaders are important in overcoming intra-village tensions over resource use and promoting successful forms of community action. A third issue concerns the extent to which the above two factors are likely to be important in the success of 'official' forest protection and management committees.
