Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Komik Matematika (KOMKA) untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Numerasi Siswa Sekolah Dasar

This study aims to determine the validity and effectiveness of the mathematical comic learning medium (KOMKA) to improve the numeration ability of elementary school students especially on area & volume measurement materials. This type of research is Research and Development. The development model used is the ADDIE model developed by Dick and Carey, which has five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluate. The population in this development research is all students of SDN 2 Padarek in the 2023/2024 academic year. The sampling technique used in this development research is simple random sampling. The data analysis technique used in this study is a descriptive analysis technique to describe whether the digital comics developed by the study are valid and effective for use in class learning. Research results show that the KOMKA learning medium is valid for use in learning activities, derived from the validity results of media experts and material experts. The KOMKA learning medium is effective in improving students' numeration skills. This can be seen from the average test results of students' mathematical understanding ability after the application of the KOMKA learning medium was higher than before.

Development of E-Modules Based on the ICARE Learning Model to Improve Students' Creative Thinking and Scientific Communication Skills

This research aims to develop E-module teaching materials based on the ICARE learning model to improve high school students' creative thinking and scientific communication skills. The research method used in this research is the plomp model. The Plomp model consists of three stages, namely preliminary research, development or prototyping phase, assessment phase. Validation test using Aiken's V and Practicality formula. The results of the E-module validity test based on the ICARE learning model carried out by three validator experts obtained valid criteria, so that the e-module is suitable for use in learning activities. The teacher's practicality obtains very practical criteria, the students' practicality is in the very practical category. So, e-modules are very suitable for use in learning activities. E-modules based on the ICARE learning model have proven capable of improving high school students' creative thinking and scientific communication skills. The aim of this research is to see the practicality of e-modules based on the ICARE learning model to improve students' creative thinking and scientific communication skills.

The Implementation of Singing Activities in Developing Social Behavior of Children Aged 5-6 Years

Children's social behavior has not developed as expected; seven children have not been able to play with their peers and have not been able to respect their friends when singing. Singing can attract children's attention and be the right stimulus to develop children's social emotions. This research aims to discover that singing can create social behavior in children aged 5-6. The approach used is a qualitative approach. With a descriptive type of research, this research was conducted at Teratai UNM Integrated PAUD. The population in this study was all Group B and the sample of this research was Group B2. The research subjects were one teacher and 14 students. Data collection techniques in this research used observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis. The research results show changes in children's social behavior, including playing with peers, respecting friends when singing, and having good manners. Initially, there was no visible change in the child's social behavior. Still, after implementing the singing activity, it was seen that the child experienced good changes in the attitude toward playing with peers, respecting friends when singing, and getting to know manners and manners so this activity is very appropriate to be recommended in the use of learning activities in teaching and learning process in class.

MarBel Math: Android-Based Electronic Mathematics Book to Enhance Learning Outcomes for Fourth-Grade Students

The limitations in providing innovative learning media that align with the developments in Science and Technology negatively impact students, such as difficulty understanding the material, low learning motivation, and poor learning outcomes. This research aims to develop an Android-based electronic book learning media named MarBel Math for flat shapes material in the fourth grade of Elementary School. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection techniques utilize both test and non-test methods. The data analysis technique involves both quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods. The validation results from content experts yielded an average score of 92%, classified as "very suitable," In the validation test by media experts, an average score of 85% was obtained, classified as "suitable". The study utilized t-test and n-gain analysis to assess the effectiveness of implementing MarBel Math learning media. This test revealed an average increase in student learning outcomes by 68%, with the average increasing from the initial or pre-test score of 54 to 85 in the post-test. From these results, MarBel Math learning media is considered to have very suitable qualifications for use in learning activities and is quite effective in improving student learning outcomes, especially in mathematics learning for flat shapes material in fourth-grade Elementary School.

Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Membaca Teks Anekdot Berbasis Google Site pada Siswa Kelas X

This research aims to develop learning media for reading anecdotal texts based on Google Site. Based on analysis data, learning media was developed using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model in Research and Development research. Development begins with analysis which includes analysis of the curriculum, teaching materials, student situations and needs, and interviews with Indonesian language teachers. The results of the analysis of the situation and student needs show that the majority of students use textbooks as a learning resource and students also expect interactive learning to help students understand Indonesian language material and also increase interest in learning. Based on the results of the analysis, a Google Site media research design was developed consisting of (1) home page, (2) competency button, (3) material button, (4) forum button, and (5) practice questions button, and (6) references . Based on the design results, a Google Site-based learning media development was prepared. Based on the results of development, the product was implemented in the form of product confirmation to teachers with "very good" results in all aspects and confirmation from class X students with "very good" results in all aspects. Based on this, it can be concluded that the product that has been developed is suitable for use in learning activities.

Self Organizing Maps (SOM) and statistical methods for describing the physicological profile of undergraduates students of engineering

To meet a Brazilian guideline for engineering courses, which advocates the use of active learning in applied disciplines, this research studies new students entering in the Metallurgical Engineering Course in Escola Politécnica of Universidade de São Paulo (PMT/USP). It was applied to them a traditional MTBI (Myers–Briggs Type Indicator) questionary with the aim of finding out if there is recurrence of psychological profiles and to understand the characteristics of the freshmen to learning. This information was subjected to statistical analysis to observe the recurrence of the psychological characteristics of freshmen over the years (2017 to 2021). The data was also subjected to the Self Organizing Maps (SOM) machine learning technique, to delineate and group the psychological profiles observed in the students, enabling the analysis of the psychological characteristics and the comparison with the results obtained via statistics. After that, the results from the MBTI Traditional and the SOM clustering were submitted to comparison methods through multivariate statistics and Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA). It was found that there is recurrence of psychological characteristics between the years of collection, what were the psychological profiles of these freshmen as to how they learned. It was found that the freshmen surveyed mostly belong to Generation Z (or iGen) and characteristics pertinent to this group were observed. A scenario is obtained to point out the best active learning techniques for these students with the verification of recurrence of profiles and other correlated psychological characteristics, aiming to provide the most effective teaching in the engineering course.

Pengembangan LKPD Representasi Matematis Berbasis Project Based Learning untuk Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar

This study aims to determine the development process, product validity, and student response to the development of LKPD Mathematical Representation Based On Project Based Learning For Class IV Elementary Schools. This research uses research and development (R&D) methods using a 4D model consisting of, Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate. Data analysis on is carried out based on expert assessment and learner responses. Data assessment Using Likert scale and Guttman scale. The subject of this study was class IV/B SDN Benda 2 with a total of 20 students for the 2023/2024 school year. The results of this study are in the form of LKPD products PjBL-Based Mathematical Representations for Grade IV Elementary Schools. Validation in product development is seen in terms of material, language, and design with an average score of 88% with the criteria of "very feasible" and can be tested to students. The results of students' responses to LKPD product development obtained a score of 91% with the criterion "very good”. From the results of validation and student response, the PjBL-Based Mathematical Representation LKPD product for Grade IV Elementary School can be said to be very feasible and good for use in learning activities.

Development of Learning Media Autoplay Studio 8 Favorite Animal Material for Class III SD/MI

Media is a teaching aid to convey messages to students during the learning process. The aim of the research is to develop Autoplay Studio 8 Media to find out the validity, practicality and effectiveness of Autoplay Studio 8 based learning media to overcome boredom in learning. This research adopted the Borg and Gall model with 10 stages which were made into 7 stages to develop English language learning media for class III with a total of 20 students at SD Negeri 3 Kandang Kapongan Situbondo. The material content is 98% and the presentation is 85% so that a total of 91% is in the very decent category. For media experts, there are several aspects that are assessed, including appearance (83%), menu (80%), coloring (73%), font (83%), implementation (83%), and a total of 81%. which is included in the very feasible category. Validation by educators who assessed several aspects of the curriculum was 93%, content was 85%, and media was 88%. If added up, the overall result is 88% in the very suitable category, while the results tested on media students are 90%, the material aspect is 90%, and the benefits aspect is 86%, so it is collected. The total is 90% so that the learning media using Autoplay Studio 8 with animal love material is suitable for use in learning activities, especially in class III elementary school, which is very helpful for explaining more in depth and can be developed in the form of smartphone software to be more effective and efficient. Active learning with research based on three principles of higher education

This study aims to determine how using an active learning model based on the three higher education principles can improve students' active learning. Qualitative research methods were applied in this study, with data collection through interviews, literature study, and observation. The results showed that active learning based on the three higher education principles was included in the "good" or "acceptable" category. The application of this model can make this campus a place with a positive academic atmosphere that enhances and supports collaboration, discussion, and positive and critical thinking. The novelty of this research lies in the use of active learning with mini-research projects, which are developed based on university principles and embody it. The hope is that this can help solve problems in the student learning process at the State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The expected implication is that the university's policy supports applying the model to resolve learning problems and build real scientists for students.

PENGEMBANGAN PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS E-LEARNING DENGAN APLIKASI MOODLE BERDASARKAN TEORI KONSTRUKTIVISTIK PADA MATERI MENGANALISIS PELUANG USAHA KELAS XI SMK

The development based learning e-learning with Moodle application based on the theory constructivist materials analyzing business opportunities XI class SMK is motivated by the limitations of the use of ICT in the learning process and the need for entrepreneurial learning media attractive and easy to use which can improve student learning outcomes. This study aims to (1) Develop e-learning courses with Moodle applications to support learning, develop learning with vocational e-learning materials based on the constructivist theory to analyze business opportunities and (2) Produce a product that has the attractiveness and easy to use. This type of research is the Research and Development using the model of Lee and Owens (2004), through several stages, namely: (1) analysis, (2) design,(3) development, (4) implementation, (5) evaluation. From the results of the development are as follows. (1) the development of e-learning with Moodle application based on the constructivist theory of matter to analyze business opportunities and well worthy to be used in class XI SMK 1 Kuala Tungkal and (2) produce e-learning has the attractiveness, and ease to use in learning activities. Feasibility of the e-learning based on expert validation studies that assess the field of e-learning include both categories, media design expert validation categorized as good, expert validation of multimedia including both categories. And experiments performed on the users (students) includes a small group of test activities, to perform pretest and posttest for the 15 students of SMK 1 Kuala Tungkal class XI Multimedia B, the result is the average value of the pretest 56.67 and posttest generate average value average 91.00. These results indicate that the developed e-learning effectively to improve student learning outcomes. Entrepreneurship For teachers, e-learning can be used in the learning process, so that the learning process will be more interesting and varied. The utilization of e-learning for the student as one of the active and independent learning resources. PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN BOOKLET ARLANSIA PADA MATA PELAJARAN PPKn UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR KELAS III SEKOLAH DASAR

This research aims to produce an Arlansia booklet media for PPKn learning that is valid, practical and effective. The type of research used is Research and Development with the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely: 1) Analyze, needs analysis and curriculum analysis, 2) Design, designing and selecting the appearance of the Arlansia PPKn learning booklet media. 3) Development, validation of products that have been developed. 4) Implementation, the application of the product to determine the practicality of the PPKn learning Arlansia booklet, and 5) Evaluation, the evaluation of the PPKn learning Arlansia booklet to determine the advantages and disadvantages of developing the PPKn learning Arlansia booklet media. Data collection techniques are in the form of questionnaires to determine the validity and practicality of the media, validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires and teacher response questionnaires, as well as tests to determine the effectiveness of the media in the form of 10 multiple choice questions. The research results showed that the percentage value of media validation was 74%, material validation was 72% and language validation was 70% in the valid category, teacher response questionnaire results was 88%, individual trial student response questionnaires was 84%, group trial student response questionnaires small at 82% in the very practical category and effective questionnaire results at 91.6% in the very effective category. So it can be concluded that the development of arlansia booklet learning media at class III on PPKN subjects can be categorized as valid and practical for use in learning activities.

Webquest Sebagai Pembelajaran Dimasa Pandemi Covid-19 Pada Mata Pelajaran Sejarah Indonesia Kelas X Di Smk Nurul Huda Poncokusumo Kabupaten Malang

The pandemic disease outbreak due to corona virus disease (Covid-19) has affected learning activities at both elementary and tertiary levels. The government requires students to carry out online learning activities. One online learning alternative that can be implemented is WebQuest. WebQuest is a type of web-based learning that is inquiry-oriented. In developing this WebQuest, the model used is Web-Based Instructional Design with four stages: 1) Analysis Stage, 2) Concurrent Design Stage, 3) Implementation Stage, 4) Evaluation Stage. This research was applied to 40 students of class Results of WebQuest trials with 3 experts. The results of data analysis from design experts obtained an average percentage of 80% suitable for use. The results of media expert data analysis obtained an average percentage of 90% suitable for use. The results of material expert data analysis obtained an average percentage of 88% suitable for use. The results of individual data analysis obtained an average percentage of 86.6% suitable for use. The results of small group data analysis obtained an average percentage of 85.7% suitable for use. The results of field test data analysis obtained an average percentage of 83.1% suitable for use. The number of students who fulfill the SKM reaches a percentage level of 87.5%, so the product is said to be effective. Meanwhile, in individual trials, small groups and field trials, it can be concluded that the WebQuest that has been developed is valid and suitable for use in learning activities. Learning with WebQuest can be the main alternative for online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. WebQuest makes it easy for students to access study material by simply opening one website page. Development of Digital Teaching Materials on The Topic of Sound Waves to Practice Problem Solving Skills

The low ability of students in problem solving and teaching materials that are still lacking for students to be able to make learning resources, especially learning from home. In general, this study aims to describe the feasibility of digital teaching materials on sound wave materials developed to practice ; problem solving skills. In particular, this study aims to describe; (1) The validity of digital teaching materials, (2) The practicality of digital teaching materials, and (3) The effectiveness of digital teaching materials. By developing digital teaching materials in the form of teaching materials, lesson plans, student worksheet, and study result test. The research was developed using the ADDIE model. The test subjects were 14 students of class XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 10 Banjarmasin. The sampling technique was carried out based on consistency in the pre-test, post-test, and attendance. The research data were obtained from validation test sheets, learning outcomes tests, and student response questionnaires. The data were analyzed descriptively-qualitatively, the average, and the minimum completeness criteria. The results showed that; (1) The validity of teaching materials with an average score of 3.63 is in the very good category, (2) the practicality of teaching materials with an average of 3.24 gets a good category, and (3) the effectiveness of teaching materials using the Minimum Completeness Criteria declared effective with 86% of students having a minimum completeness criteria score and an N-gain of 0.71 so that digital teaching materials can be said to be good. The conclusions of the research obtained are the development of digital teaching materials on Sound Wave material to practice problem solving skills which are declared suitable for use in learning activities. With the existence of digital teaching materials, sound waves can be a decent source of learning for students and practice problem solving skills

The Correlation Between the Use of Online Learning Platforms and Undergraduate Students’ Self-Efficacy

Background: Self-efficacy and the use of learning activities in online learning platforms have been extensively researched recently and are considered factors of online learning success. However, little research empirically seeks the correlation between those variables, including in English as a foreign language (EFL) online classes. Purpose: To investigate whether there is a significant correlation between the use of online learning platforms and EFL students' self-efficacy in online learning in English classes. Method: This quantitative research used two questionnaires, i.e., the Online Learning Platform Questionnaire (OLPQ) and the Self-Efficacy Questionnaire for Online Learning (SeQoL). The use of online learning platforms measured in this study includes independent learning, virtual meetings, forum discussion, collaborative learning, and assessment; meanwhile, self-efficacy includes course completion, social interaction, academic interaction, interaction with lecturers, and the use of LMS. The sample of this research was 133 EFL students from three universities in Indonesia. The data was analyzed using Spearman's correlation at the significance level of 0.05. Results: The results show that independent learning, collaborative learning, and forum discussion correlate with most constructs of self-efficacy. Meanwhile, the results indicate no correlation between two constructs of online learning platforms, namely virtual meetings and assessments, and three constructs of self-efficacy, i.e., students’ social interaction, academic interaction, and students’ interaction with lecturers. Conclusion: This research shows that more frequent use of online learning platforms, especially those covering independent learning, collaborative learning, and forum discussion, results in higher confidence among EFL students to succeed in online learning. Suggestion: Therefore, this research suggests that lecturers consider using significant features of online learning platforms to enhance students’ self-efficacy in online EFL classes.

Active learning for left ventricle segmentation in echocardiography

Background and ObjectiveTraining deep learning models for medical image segmentation require large annotated datasets, which can be expensive and time-consuming to create. Active learning is a promising approach to reduce this burden by strategically selecting the most informative samples for segmentation. This study investigates the use of active learning for efficient left ventricle segmentation in echocardiography with sparse expert annotations. MethodsWe adapt and evaluate various sampling techniques, demonstrating their effectiveness in judiciously selecting samples for segmentation. Additionally, we introduce a novel strategy, Optimised Representativeness Sampling, which combines feature-based outliers with the most representative samples to enhance annotation efficiency. ResultsOur findings demonstrate a substantial reduction in annotation costs, achieving a remarkable 99% upper bound performance while utilising only 20% of the labelled data. This equates to a reduction of 1680 images needing annotation within our dataset. When applied to a publicly available dataset, our approach yielded a remarkable 70% reduction in required annotation efforts, representing a significant advancement compared to baseline active learning strategies, which achieved only a 50% reduction. Our experiments highlight the nuanced performance of diverse sampling strategies across datasets within the same domain. ConclusionsThe study provides a cost-effective approach to tackle the challenges of limited expert annotations in echocardiography. By introducing a distinct dataset, made publicly available for research purposes, our work contributes to the field's understanding of efficient annotation strategies in medical image segmentation.

Development of QR Code Based Historical Narrative Text Teaching Materials to Improve Students' Skills in Extracting Historical Information

Teachers have not integrated the technology that should be implemented to support the success of 21st century learning. The aim of this research is to develop and test the appropriateness of teaching materials for historical narrative texts based on QR Code Indonesian learning in grade V SDN Srondol Wetan and SDN Sendangmulyo 01 Semarang City. Development research model of Borg and Gall. The form of data collecting instrument, namely validation questionnaire. QR Code-based historical narrative text teaching materials are developed according to the needs of teachers and students to improve students' skills in extracting historical information. The development of QR Code-based historical narrative text teaching materials is designed with characteristics that specifically include (1) appropriateness of content/material, (2) eligibility percentage, (3) linguistic feasibility, and (4) graphic feasibility. QR Code-based historical narrative text teaching materials are developed based on the feasibility assessment of media experts, and material experts. Based on the feasibility assessment of media experts on teaching materials for historical narrative texts based on QR Codes, including in the criteria with an assessment percentage score of 90.83%. Meanwhile, material expert feasibility assessment on QR Code-based historical narrative text teaching materials includes criteria are very feasible with an assessment percetage score of 92.5%. As well as a recapitulation of 2 validators obtained an average score of 90% in the very good category so that it is suitable for use in learning activities. Optimisation of surfactin yield in Bacillus using data-efficient active learning and high-throughput mass spectrometry

Integration of machine learning and high throughput measurements are essential to drive the next generation of the design-build-test-learn (DBTL) cycle in synthetic biology. Here, we report the use of active learning in combination with metabolomics for optimising production of surfactin, a complex lipopeptide resulting from a non-ribosomal assembly pathway. We designed a media optimisation algorithm that iteratively learns the yield landscape and steers the media composition toward maximal production. The algorithm led to a 160 % yield increase after three DBTL runs as compared to an M9 baseline. Metabolomics data helped to elucidate the underpinning biochemistry for yield improvement and revealed Pareto-like trade-offs in production of other lipopeptides from related pathways. We found positive associations between organic acids and surfactin, suggesting a key role of central carbon metabolism, as well as system-wide anisotropies in how metabolism reacts to shifts in carbon and nitrogen levels. Our framework offers a novel data-driven approach to improve yield of biological products with complex synthesis pathways that are not amenable to traditional yield optimisation strategies.

Characteristics of departments with high-use of active learning in introductory STEM courses: implications for departmental transformation

BackgroundIt is well established in the literature that active learning instruction in introductory STEM courses results in many desired student outcomes. Yet, regular use of high-quality active learning is not the norm in many STEM departments. Using results of a national survey, we identified 16 departments where multiple instructors reported using high levels of active learning in their introductory chemistry, mathematics, or physics courses. We conducted interviews with 27 instructors in these 16 departments to better understand the characteristics of such departments.ResultsUsing grounded theory methodology, we developed a model that highlights relevant characteristics of departments with high use of active learning instruction in their introductory courses. According to this model, there are four main, interconnected characteristics of such departments: motivated people, knowledge about active learning, opportunities, and cultures and structures that support active learning. These departments have one or more people who are motivated to promote the use of active learning. These motivated people have knowledge about active learning as well as access to opportunities to promote the use of active learning. Finally, these departments have cultures and structures that support the use of active learning. In these departments, there is a positive feedback loop that works iteratively over time, where motivated people shape cultures/structures and these cultures/structures in turn increase the number and level of commitment of the motivated people. A second positive feedback loop was found between the positive outcome of using active learning instruction and the strengthening of cultures/structures supportive of active learning.ConclusionsAccording to the model, there are two main take-away messages for those interested in promoting the use of active learning. The first is that all four components of the model are important. A weak or missing component may limit the desired outcome. The second is that desired outcomes are obtained and strengthened over time through two positive feedback loops. Thus, there is a temporal aspect to change. In all of the departments that were part of our study, the changes took at minimum several years to enact. While our model was developed using only high-use of active learning departments and future work is needed to develop the model into a full change theory, our results do suggest that change efforts may be made more effective by increasing the robustness of the four components and the connections between them.

Promoting Digital Literacy: Assessing Teachers Readiness in Utilizing Information and Communication Technology for Learning in Rural Area

This research aims to evaluate and ascertain the readiness of teachers to utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in educational settings, with a particular focus on rural environments. By examining teachers' preparedness in employing ICT, the study sheds light on the unique conditions and phenomena associated with technology use in learning activities in rural areas. The methodology adopted for this research was a descriptive qualitative approach, using a case study design focused on the island of Belitung. The study involved 12 classroom teachers from three elementary schools in Badau Village as research subjects. Data were gathered through interviews and document analysis, employing thematic analysis techniques for data interpretation. To ensure the validity of the data, techniques of technical and source triangulation were used. The findings indicate six themes regarding the teachers' readiness to use ICT, including teachers' proficiency in operating laptops/computers, and their capability to plan, select, and integrate ICT tools for educational and administrative purposes. Additionally, skills in collaboration, using the internet, and leveraging other advanced applications are deemed crucial. The study also reveals that teachers need to comprehend their roles and functions in adapting to ICT developments, thereby aligning their readiness with the standards of professional teacher competency. The study highlights the need for teachers to understand their roles in ICT adaptation, aligning with professional competency standards. These insights provide a framework for future research, policymaking, and practice enhancement in educational ICT, aiming to improve educational quality and effectiveness in the digital age.
