The present work reports a novel, eco-friendly green synthesis method for non-toxic BCNO nanophosphor material achieving high 79% Quantum Yield (QY). In this process, Boric acid (H3BO3), Urea (NH2CONH2) and Lemon Aqueous Extract (LAE) were used as precursors. The B/N ratio was fixed at 2 mol and the concentration of LAE was varied. As-prepared phosphor material was characterized using XRD, FTIR, SEM, AFM, UV-Visible and Photo-luminescence (PL) spectroscopy. Characterization results confirm the formation of blue emitting BCNO nano phosphor with Hexagonal Boron Nitride (h-BN) phase structure. The crystallinity, PL intensity and QY of nano phosphor increased with increasing LAE concentration up to an optimum value (20% (v/v)) and further decreased for its higher concentration. AFM and TEM images show homogeneously dispersed uniform nanoparticles with an average size of 51.67 nm. The decay profile shows short and long decay time, (τ1, τ2) respectively in nanoseconds.
