Legal awareness as a factor in preventing illegal (deviant) behavior

This article examines the problem of deviant behavior of individuals in society through their consciousness, namely through one of its types - legal consciousness. The purpose of the research is to establish the relationship between a person's deviant behavior and the appropriate level of his legal awareness. A significant number of methods were used in the study. One of these methods was: the method of analysis, which helped to examine the views existing in science on the main parts of the problem and to draw a conclusion about their mutual influence; the method of deduction helped to determine the ways of solving the problem of deviant behavior proposed in the article by establishing a connection between the components of the problem. With the help of these approaches, the essence of consciousness, the concept of legal consciousness, as a separate type, was determined. The ontology and types of deviant behavior were analyzed, one of which is illegal behavior. The connection between legal consciousness and illegal behavior was determined. Ways to eliminate illegal behavior through changing the legal consciousness of individuals were proposed. The result of the study was the identification of ways to overcome deviant behavior through increasing the level of legal awareness.

CRIME AND PUNISHMENT IN THE CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY OF POSTMODERN

The article is based on the study and generalization of world and Russian criminological literature, as well as some statistical data. In the postmodern society in which humanity has lived since the mid-twentieth century, not only social processes and phenomena change significantly, but also knowledge about them. Postmodern criminology proceeds from the fact that “crime” and “criminality” are social constructs constructed by the authorities in the interests, first of all, of the authorities. There are no properties, characteristics or personality traits inherent only to the “criminal personality”. “Criminogenic factors” are also factors that determine other types of deviant behavior. Punishment is ineffective (not effective enough) in counteraction crime. New views of postmodern criminology are presented in the article.

How Social Influence Affects Reporting: Toward an Integration of Crime Reporting, Whistleblowing, and Denunciation

Reporting—often by ordinary individuals—is the most common means by which authorities become aware of crimes, misconduct, and other types of deviant behavior. In this article, I integrate research across a variety of disciplines and domains to review the role of social influence in the decision to report. Such influences operate at the individual, group, and societal levels to shape reporting behavior, as potential reporters respond to both direct and indirect pressures, along with considering the anticipated reactions of others were a report to be made. Together, these influences can either suppress or promote reporting, which shapes who is identified, investigated, and ultimately punished for deviant behavior within organizations, communities, and states.

“If the End Justifies the Means, Then This Is Permissible…”: Academic Deviations of Russian Postgraduate Students in Socio-Humanitarian Areas

This article looks at academic deviation practices from the viewpoint of graduate students, as well as whether or not they find certain types of deviant behavior in science and education acceptable. The theoretical framework consisted of two mutually exclusive approaches to the interpretation of academic deviations: the normativist R. Descartes and the epistemic anarchism of P. Feyerabend. The study purpose is to evaluate graduate students in socio-humanitarian scientific specializations regarding the prevalence and attitude toward academic deviation. Main hypothesis: postgraduate students’ views regarding academic deviations, especially plagiarism, fall on a continuum, ranging from total denial to total acceptance. Research design: quantitativequalitative. Empirical base: online survey (1276 respondents, including 185 graduate students), 5 focus groups. Methods of analysis: cluster analysis using the k-nearest neighbors method, qualitative analysis of focus group materials. Main results. It was discovered that creating crib sheets was the most prevalent form of academic deviation among graduate students. Of the respondents, 66% selected “often” and “very often” as their options. The purchase of exams, abstracts, and coursework showed the least amount of variation. Ten percent of those surveyed said that graduate students used plagiarism frequently or extremely frequently. Based on their attitudes regarding plagiarism, five distinct groups could be identified using cluster analysis, three of which would be more tolerant of it. Simultaneously, two of the five groups place the blame on students, and three see plagiarism as a result of the educational system’s failure to some extent. Directions for further research are related to the analysis of other forms of deviation, for example, practices of academic collusion within a university, as well as a description of the objective reasons for graduate students committing academic deviations, consideration of the prevalence of academic deviations of graduate students as a sign of a crisis in the normative foundations of the institution of graduate school.

Доминирующие типы темпоральности социально-ненормативных подростков

The article, using empirical material, examines the problem of temporal characteristics of non-normative adolescents. The questions are revealed about whether the non-normativity of adolescents is interconnected with their tendency to certain types of deviant behavior, as well as whether there are differences in the types of temporality of adolescents who have different features of non-normativity and behavioral deviations inherent in it. The respondents were 197 teenagers (among them 100 girls and 97 boys aged 15 to 16 years), all citizens of Russia, students of secondary schools. The following questionnaires were used: “Normativity. Intelligence. Regulation”, “Tendency to deviant behavior”, “Subjective assessment of time orientation”, “Time scenario of personality” and “Subjective attitude towards time scale”. As a result of the study, three groups of adolescents were identified - normative, non-normative-creative (emotional) and non-normative-reproductive (calculating). It has been established that normative adolescent express resource temporality - a plastic attitude to time, a permissive time scenario and a resource focus on the present and future. Non-normative-creative (emotional) adolescents have an infantile-fixed temporality - an indifferent attitude to time, an infantile-permissive time scenario and a fixed time focus on the present, reduced volitional control of emotional reactions, a tendency to overcome norms and rules and aggressive behavior. Non-normative-reproductive (calculating) adolescents have a neurotic-fixed temporality - time dependence, a prohibitive time scenario and a fixed time focus on the past, a tendency to overcome norms and rules and delinquent behavior. In practical terms, the transformation of temporality can be one of the promising areas of psychological support for adolescents, in order to prevent and prevent their deviant behavior.

Personal characteristics of predisposition to destructive behavior

Aim. To identify personal characteristics determining the subject’s destructive behavior.Material and methods. Students from Stavropol State Medical University and North-Caucasus Federal University (n=609) took part in the study. The following diagnostic methods were used: a tendency to abnormal behavior (A. N. Orel), a meaning-life orientation test (D. A. Leontyev), a self-attitude test (S. R. Panteleev), a self-organization of activity questionnaire (E. Yu. Mandrikova).Results. We established that the sample corresponds to the characteristics of age-psychological and socio-professional development. The greatest severity by type of deviant behavior was found among respondents who are prone to overcoming norms and rules, and among those who have a reduced tendency to control emotional reactions. The least pronounced were tendencies to delinquent and addictive behavior, the tendency to aggression and violence. The dominant trends in this context are students’ understanding of the emotional richness of their ives, and the average psychological portrait of the respondent reflects their focus on themselves when implementing life’s tasks. On average, students are open to change, accept and value themselves, focus on their own strengths when planning and implementing future activities. They are focused on the present, understand the need to define the goals in life and activity. The study of individual parameters of personal characteristics and the severity of destructive behavior types made it possible to describe models of the relationship between these phenomena.Conclusion. The study showed that the current situation in the development of society is accompanied by risk factors that cause states of emotional stress and maladaptation, which has a negative impact on mental health and behavior. Diagnosis of personal characteristics and the severity of destructive behavior types in students made it possible to describe models of the relationship between these phenomena through regression analysis. A reflexive analysis of the results obtained made it possible to reveal an invariant part of personal characteristics in models of destructive behavior and the presence of certain personal characteristics that can manifest themselves in the variable part of a model of destructive behavior.

Exploring Alienation, Self-Dehumanization, and Aggression in Adolescents: Institutionalized vs Noninstitutionalized

Abstract Background: Self-dehumanization is a scarcely studied process linked to stigma in minority groups that is promoted by the dissatisfaction of various psychosocial needs and is associated with antisocial or immoral behaviors. On the other hand, alienation is a subjective state of deprivation or "estrangement" from one's own nature, involving deficiencies in psychosocial needs, and predicting various types of deviant behaviors in adolescents. Objective: The aim of the following research is to verify if alienation is a predictor of self-dehumanization; and, secondly, if the experience of alienation and self-dehumanization promotes self-reported aggression in institutionalized and non-institutionalized adolescents. Methods: Sixty six “67” adolescents (27 of them institutionalized, 35 non-institutionalized) filled out self-report measures of alienation, dehumanization and aggression. Results: Through mean differences tests and various regression, mediation, and moderation analyses, it is found that the experience of alienation is a significant predictor of self-dehumanization and that both self-dehumanization and alienation (partially mediated by self-dehumanization) predict self-reported aggression. However, moderation analyses show that this is not the case for non-institutionalized minors. Conclusion: Both sets of findings allow for the consideration of interventions specifically aimed at mitigating alienating elements and problematic types of self-dehumanization. Особенности самоорганизации подростков, склонных к девиантному поведению

<p style="text-align: justify;">The article is devoted to the study of the features of self-organization in adolescents with a revealed tendency to various types of deviant behavior, as well as the relationship between the development of self-organization and a tendency to deviant behavior. Relevance, novelty and practical significance are due to the poor knowledge of this topic and the prospect of developing practical methods for preventing deviant behavior through the development of self-organization. The empirical study involved 60 ninth grade secondary school students of both sexes (mean age 15 years). In the course of the empirical study, such features of self-organization of adolescents with a revealed tendency to deviant behavior were described as a low severity of the general level of self-organization and its individual components, and significant inverse correlations were found between the level of self-organization and a tendency to various types of deviant behavior.</p>

Introduction. Modern Russian studies devoted to the study of deviant behavior in different age samples of employees of internal affairs bodies (ATS) are considered. The urgency of the problem is related to the task and optimization of interpersonal interaction of ATS employees. Materials and discussion. The types of deviant behavior and deviations in interpersonal interaction are considered. The results of studies aimed at identifying the causes and predictors of deviant behavior in cadets, cadets and police officers with different service experience are presented. The concept of antisocial creativity is considered, predictors of antisocial creativity identified in studies of various age samples are presented. An important predictor of deviant behavior in police officers are negative personal characteristics: hostility, aggression, character accentuation. Among cadets, an important role in the formation of negative personal characteristics is played by the peculiarities of the educational institution, and to a greater extent its closeness. Employees of the Department of Internal Affairs have a different situation: with the growth of service experience, these characteristics are not formed, but manifest themselves due to professional deformation. Conclusions. The analysis of modern publications shows the absence of longitudinal studies tracking the dynamics of changes in deviant behavior, and the apparent insufficiency of studies of deviant behavior in the interpersonal interaction of police officers.
 The prospect of studying the features of interpersonal interaction of ATS employees within the framework of the study of the relationship between antisocial creativity and emotional intelligence is substantiated.

Workplace deviance & Predictors of Workplace deviance: A Systematic Review of Literature

This study examines recent conceptual advances in workplace deviance constructs through a systematic literature review (SLR). This study also focuses on particular types of deviant behavior at work which have been studied more frequently since last seven years and whether they include interpersonal or organizational forms of workplace deviance. The study also investigated mediating and moderating variables of workplace deviance. An SLR included Scopus and Web of Science database articles published between 2015 and 2022. This evidence suggests that interpersonal forms of deviant work behavior, rather than organizational forms, have received more attention in recent studies. In terms of antecedents, the findings indicate that personality factors remain prevalent. The study has both theoretical and practical limitations.

DEVIANT BEHAVIOR: PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTORS OF STUDY

Types of deviant (deviant) behavior are presented. It is revealed that the socially negative nature of deviations is destructive both for the individual and for the environment, but it is this type of deviant behavior that arouses the greatest interest of researchers and is more often considered in the scientific literature. The definition of the concept of "deviation" is given. It is noted that the main factors that predetermine deviations in human behavior are the level of social consciousness, morality, consolidation of the system of social regulations in society. In the course of the study of theoretical material it was found that a number of scientists characterize a norm as "a historically established in a particular society limit", "a measure of acceptable behavior", some properties originally inherent in most people, a standard of behavior, these are norm-ideals, as the level of interiorization of norms in different social environments has significant differences, and norm-ideals (system of basic values) are globalized, they are difficult to apply to specific social objects. It is proposed to consider the norm in three different meanings: statistical, functional (individual) and ideal; in laws, traditions, customs the social norm finds its embodiment (support), that is, in everything that has become a habit, firmly embedded in everyday life, in the way of life of the majority population, supported by public opinion, plays the role of a "natural regulator" of social and interpersonal relations. It has been revealed that some scholars are inclined to see moral norms as a kind of "instructions" that "ensure the correct operation of the human machine".

ОСОБЕННОСТИ ОТНОШЕНИЯ СТУДЕНЧЕСКОЙ МОЛОДЕЖИ К СУИЦИДУ КАК ВИДУ ДЕВИАНТНОГО ПОВЕДЕНИЯ

Subject of the article: analysis of the peculiarities of the attitude of students to suicide as a type of deviant behavior. Object of the article: student youth of the Samara State Technical University. Purpose of the work: to study the peculiarities of the attitude of Russian students to suicide as a type of deviant behavior. Methodology of work: non-formalized analysis of documents, statistical analysis, sociological survey using a combined two-stage sample. The results of the work indicate that the dependence of the perception and evaluation of this phenomenon on the scope of its manifestation. Different types of deviations from the norm cause different reactions to them, indicating the degree of acceptability of this type of behavior for solving a person's personal problems. Young people are the least tolerant of such social deviations as drug addiction and alcoholism. The level of tolerance rises as it approaches from large to small social groups, from formal to informal. In the absence of harmonious relationships in the family, young people demonstrate a more emotional attitude towards the problem of suicide and are more focused on helping, which is partly due to changes in value orientations in society and the openness of the information space. Conclusion: the data obtained suggest that socialization plays a decisive role in the mechanism of formation of a tolerant attitude towards deviant behavior in general and suicidal behavior in particular.

СОЦИАЛЬНО-УПРАВЛЕНЧЕСКИЙ АНАЛИЗ ОТКЛОНЯЮЩЕГОСЯ ПОВЕДЕНИЯ ГОСУДАРСТВЕННЫХ СЛУЖАЩИХ В КИБЕРПРОСТРАНСТВЕ

The article discusses the socio-managerial mechanisms that affect deviant actions of state and municipal employees in the virtual digital space. The types of deviant behavior in the public service are considered and the dependences of the appearance of such actions are identi ed. Groups of possible preventive actions to avert various types of deviations, as well as all kinds of their manifestations on the part of civil servants in cyberspace, are considered. It was found necessary to conduct regular individual conversations and group trainings with officials who have or have previously manifested deviant behavior. It is proposed to pay special attention to officials who are part of the «risk» group and who experience regular psychological pressure due to numerous addictive «irritants». It is also noted that the factor of administrative culture has a significant impact on the adoption of certain decisions by representatives of the authorities. The most effective list of motivational measures aimed at improving the working environment and the quality of life of both employees and their families has been formed.

Социально-психологические факторы девиантного поведения подростков

The article is devoted to the study of social-psychological factors of deviant behavior in adolescents. The psychological characteristics of adolescence, the phenomenology of deviant behavior, types of deviant behavior are considered. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of the factors of the formation of deviant behavior of minors. The authors note the lack of scientific knowledge about this. Identifying and taking into account such factors will make it possible to individualize the process of psychoprophylactic and corrective activities of a psychologist. Experimental work on the study of the socio-psychological reasons for the deviant behavior of minors is described. The analysis of the research results is presented. The study made it possible to determine the influence of socio-psychological determinants on the formation of deviant behavior in adolescents: personal and characterological characteristics, character accentuations, peculiarities of adolescent self-esteem, types of family upbringing, characteristics of parental attitudes. All this will allow in the future to develop programs of psychological prevention of deviant behavior in adolescents, taking into account their characteristics and family upbringing.

ОРГАНІЗАЦІЯ ПРАВОВОГО ВИХОВАННЯ ПІДЛІТКІВ У ТЬЮТОРІАЛАХ

The article focuses on the aggravation of the problem of legal education of adolescents and in particular of pupils with learning disabilities and describes the ways to solve it. The reasons for deviant behavior of pupils, the typology of deviation from the norm are revealed, and the principles of individualization, flexibility and variability, which are the basis for developing an individual program of actions for the upbringing and re-education of adolescents, are described. The topics of educational hours and round tables to promote the protection of children's rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are proposed. In this regard, the new functions of the tutor in working with pupils of deviant behavior are justified, and specific recommendations for organizing tutors based on the principle of individualization of legal education are highlighted. The author emphasizes the priority of interpersonal communication between the tutor and teenagers with learning disabilities. The article accentuates the formative function of communication; it describes the function of the pupil status confirmation and the function of interpersonal communication, which helps to bring out the potential of positive feelings and emotions. The research emphasizes the importance for the tutor to learn about the living conditions of the pupils with learning disabilities, their relationships with parents, surrounding, with other teenagers after classes. It is underlined that the tutor must consider the typology of these teenagers’ psychic, which will allow the tutor to develop a further program of actions. The author offers the typology by V.M. Soroka – Rosinsky and his scientific and pedagogical approaches to educating children with different types of deviant behavior.  

Study on the Types of Deviant Workplace Behavior in Croatian IT Companies

This paper deals with the concept of deviant workplace behavior. The paper presents the results of an empirical study on the types of deviant workplace behavior in Croatian companies in the Information Technology sector (IT). The difference in the occurrence of deviant workplace behavior by gender and age was analyzed, after which the correlation between the types of deviant behavior was examined.

Trash Stream: Social Conditioning of Criminalization

The social network as one of the digital technologies has not only creates a platform for communications, especially relevant during a pandemic, but also provokes the emergence of various types of deviant behavior, primarily due to the fact that many communicate on the Internet under fictitious names; it liberates a person, creates a feeling of impunity, control over the situation, etc. Recently, trash streams have become popular on the Web, but not funny and silly, but associated with violence, insult, humiliation of human dignity, causing a feeling of disgust and contrary to public morality. In December 2020, during such a live broadcast, another victim died, which launched a process in society to discuss the need to introduce criminal liability for such acts. The paper assesses the draft criminal law, as well as initiatives to supplement the list of aggravating circumstances and some corpus delicti with an appropriate qualifying feature, and formulates the author’s draft criminal law on responsibility for organizing, conducting, facilitating and participating in direct air in trash streams.

PROBLEMS OF DEVIANT BEHAVIOR IN KAZAKHSTAN

The proposed scientific article analyzes the concept of deviant behavior, its types and common characteristics in modern society, as well as its social, biological and psychological factors. In addition, an overview of the ways of deviant behavior in the country is given, the types of deviant behavior are described. Problems that are considered normal in some societies and are not considered deviant behavior are analyzed. It is also recommended to consider measures to prevent deviant behavior that is harmful to society. The article also points out that deviant behavior is not age appropriate. The analysis of various factors that contribute to the criminal world is made. The difference in the nature and types of crimes is shown. At the same time, the article notes that there are other issues related to the relevance of the problem of deviant behavior in our country today.

Explaining Victim Impact from Cyber Abuse: An Exploratory Mixed Methods Analysis

ABSTRACT Crime and deviance can have a significant and long-lasting effect on victims. While the literature on victim impact from traditional types of crime like robbery or assault is well established, much smaller scholarship examines the impact of online forms of deviance with only a handful of studies focusing on the experiences of adult victims. The current paper analyses the data from a sample of the U.S. adults (N= 746) using mixed methods to examine the perceived impact from different types of cyber abuse. A thematic analysis of open-ended responses identified five main types of victim impact: psychological, emotional, social, financial and positive. We also found that females, victims, who were abused by someone they knew, and who experienced multiple methods of abuse tended to experience higher impact. Besides, some methods of abuse appeared to affect victims more than others. Findings from this study contribute to our understanding of cyber abuse as a type of deviant behavior and help inform policy responses to the needs of cyber abuse victims.

Личностные детерминанты девиантного поведения студентов учреждений среднего профессионального образования

The article presents research data on the identification of personality determinants of various types of deviant behavior of students of secondary vocational education institutions. The study is retrospective because based on the recorded objective manifestations of various types of deviant behavior of students during their training in an educational institution. The study involved 82 students — boys and girls aged 15 to 17 years. We studied the following types of deviant behavior: socio-psychological maladaptation, primary deviation, addictive behavior, aggressive behavior and delinquent behavior. Objective indicators for each type of deviant behavior were recorded on the basis of the personal data of students. Personal- ity determinants were evaluated using psychological testing techniques. The study found that the most common types of deviant behavior are primary deviation and delinquent behavior. The study found that the personal determinants of the socio-psychological maladaptation of students are dominance, affection, cooperation, respect for others, carefree, emotive and curious; primary deviation — the manifestation of feelings, plasticity; addictive behavior — a tendency to overcome norms and rules, a violation of volitional control of emotional reactions; aggressive behavior — respect for others, expressiveness, artistry, demon- strativeness, excitability, emotiveness, a tendency to self-destructive behavior; delinquent behavior — cooperation, respect for others, dymism cyclotymic, a tendency to overcome norms and rules, a tendency to addictive behavior. Common personal determinants that are characteristic of different types of deviant behavior are cooperation, respect for others, emotionality, a tendency to overcome norms and rules, hypertimity, cyclotimicity, stuck and exalted.
