3D simulation model for IoD-to-vehicles communication in IoD-assisted VANET

Vehicle ad hoc networks (VANETs) have gradually emerged to enhance transportation information, entertainment, safety, and other services. However, such infrastructures have certain limitations, causing intermittent network disconnection. Further, in urban areas, terrain heights act as obstacles and hinder or attenuate transmitted signals. In this study, we propose a dynamic 3D internet of drones collaborative communication approach for efficient VANET-assistance (3DIoDAV) by integrating the IoD network and VANET to support terrestrial communication. We model IoD locations as an optimization problem to optimize the IoD nodes in three-dimensional terrain. Improved particle swarm optimization is used to optimally deploy IoD nodes in 3D terrain for minimizing the number of isolated vehicles. The proposed approach considers the terrain profile influence on communication. Therefore, we propose a 3D propagation model for efficient IoD-to-vehicle (IoD2V) communication in 3D space. Experiments are performed based on the received signal from ground vehicles to examine the performance of the proposed model and the 3DIoDAV approach. Simulation results show different behaviors of IoD nodes in two-dimensional (2D) and 3D scenarios. Comparison with 2D VANET-assisted and IoDAV approaches demonstrates the proposed 3DIoDAV approach’s ability to detect terrain obstacles, which guarantees the dispatching of IoD nodes into the most appropriate locations in 3D space, thereby minimizing the impact of terrain obstacles on communication.

Application of visual multimedia technology in air transportation information service system

Abstract This paper uses visual multimedia technology to establish a model for civil aviation transportation information services. A training subset is generated with a random forest, and the strength and relevance indicators of the random forest are examined. The generated decision tree is run on the corresponding out-of-bag data to evaluate its classification ability and obtain its weights. The leaf nodes of the decision tree are normalized to calculate the out-of-bag estimation of classification strength to realize the application of visual multimedia technology in the civil aviation transportation information service system. The system scores after application are all 8 and above, and the highest can reach 10. The quality of its service efficiency and level is improved, and passengers traveling by air are satisfied.

ОСНОВНІ КРИТЕРІЇ УПРАВЛІННЯ ЛОГІСТИЧНИМ СЕРВІСОМ ВАНТАЖНИХ ПЕРЕВЕЗЕНЬ

In the conditions of economic uncertainty, more and more people are paying attention and taking into account the optimization processes that occur in logistics activities. This is especially true for cargo transportation that must be delivered to the destination at a certain time. At the same time, the route and force majeure are calculated at the time of transportation. A huge contribution is made by the logistics service during the transportation of goods, because the transportation of goods is not only its transportation, but also a range of actions that are the driving force for the implementation of a logistics operation. The article examines the main criteria for the management of the logistics service of cargo transportation, which are revealed through the prism of indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of the logistics service of cargo transportation: labor productivity; quality of transportation; simple under load – unloading (ramp); expenses for transport and forwarding services; transportation information service; work of logistics centers. Each performance indicator has an impact on the consumer when choosing a company and must be transformed when the environment changes. The technological development of countries leads to the development of every industry and enterprise, and logistics also includes new technologies that help to improve customer service and improve the logistics process both in and out of production. At the same time, the demand for domestic and international freight transportation continues to grow, as within the country, because the consumption of goods increases, as the new generation will have more pleasure and opportunities to purchase goods and use an efficient service. Consumers also demand to receive logistics services quickly and with high quality, which refers to the main criteria of logistics service, and this trend is emphasized by the availability of information and technologies. New trends allow users to determine the types of services they need, effectively integrate their needs (problems) and make choices for cargo transportation.

Impact of investment in intermediate waste management facilities (Sunter and Bantargebang) on the economy of DKI Jakarta Province

Until now, the waste problem in DKI Jakarta Province is an unresolved matter. This is still the task of the local government. In carrying out the mandate of regional autonomy, DKI Jakarta Province is currently active in promoting sustainable development, especially dealing with waste. Green investment management is currently the government's focus with a waste management facility project. In total, the investment required to build a waste management facility between Sunter and Bantargebang is Rp.5.84 trillion. This study examines the impact of the waste management facility project on economic output and employment in DKI Jakarta Province. The analysis used is input-output analysis by entering the stimulus amount of investment to the infrastructure category sector. The waste management facility project has been able to mobilize key sectors, including the electricity sector, construction sector, land transportation sector, and information and communication services sector. The impact of the project was able to encourage additional output in a number of sectors with an accumulation of Rp. 9.40 trillion. Meanwhile, the absorption of labor due to the addition of output in a number of sectors is projected to absorb 9,195 workers.

Research on modular scheme of aviation emergency rescue for natural disasters

Aviation emergency rescue is the core part of China's emergency rescue system and the main rescue force, which plays an important role in disaster relief, rescue materials transfer, casualty transportation, air rescue, major health and epidemic prevention. Based on H145 helicopter, the modular design concept is adopted to redesign the aviation rescue equipment, and the modular structure layout of the cabin is completed for major natural disasters. Aiming at the path planning problem of rescue helicopter, based on the improved ant colony algorithm, the optimal path planning of helicopter is completed by comprehensively considering the constraints of helicopter flight performance and flight environment. Through the use of medical data interaction technology, a standardized transport information service platform is established, which solves the problem of medical information island between the transfer unit, the transport unit and the evacuation hospital when the helicopter performs the aviation emergency rescue task, realizes the interconnection of medical data, effectively shortens the response time of aviation emergency rescue and improves the rescue efficiency.

Last-mile delivery optimization considering the demand of market distribution methods: A case studies using Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search algorithm

Based on the current situation and problems of transportation "last mile" transportation distribution, this paper establishes a path optimization model based on user distribution methods from the perspective of market preference for transportation distribution methods, designs an Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search (ALNS) algorithm, and builds a user portrait based on the solution algorithm and the construction method. Based on the solution algorithm and the user portrait construction method, the solution scenario is established, and the distribution route and transportation distribution method are planned based on five real location data. Through the analysis of the solution scenarios, it can be obtained that after the optimization of the model, the transportation distribution cost of enterprises can be reduced, and the satisfaction of the transportation distribution service quality can be improved. The higher the complaint cost, the lower the total transportation and distribution cost, and the higher the satisfaction rate; the higher the time window penalty cost, the higher the total distribution cost, and the lower the satisfaction rate. Through several model comparisons, it is found that the optimized model has obvious advantages in transportation cost and good performance in transportation service satisfaction. To further strengthen the promotion and application of the distribution path optimization model, countermeasures are proposed in three aspects: establishing a unified end transportation information service platform, increasing the investment in end transportation path optimization, and strengthening the formulation of supporting policies to realize the optimization of end distribution services.

Implementation of connection scan algorithm in tourism intermodal transportation journey planner: a case study

Accessibility to tourist destinations is an important component in a tourism system, especially for natural tourist destinations located in suburban areas. Good linkage of travel information and physical connections with local transportation services for intercity travel can facilitate more people to travel and promote national tourism destinations. This research takes the popular national tourism destinations and their public transportation service in Taiwan as a research object due to the unavailability of integrated public transport information service. Free Independent Travelers (FIT) demand is growing. This research aims to integrate intermodal public transportation information to support FIT by proposing a seamless way journey planner. In this scenario, the journey planner requires timetable data as input. The Connection Scan Algorithm is used to find the earliest arrival time routes at their destinations. This journey planner is built in PHP language and can complement the official tourism travel information website by Tourism Bureau, MOTC. Hence, the FIT could get the quickest routes to reach the destinations without compiling the public transportation information provided independently.

Developing a Solution for Mobility and Distribution Analysis Based on Bluetooth and Artificial Intelligence.

The purpose of this research was to develop a simple, cost-effective, but enough efficient solution for locating, tracking and distribution analysis of people and/or vehicle flowing, based on non-intrusive Bluetooth sensing and selective filtering algorithms employing artificial intelligence components. The solution provides a tool for analyzing density of targets in a specific area, useful when checking contact proximities of a target along a route. The principle consists of the detection of mobile devices that use active Bluetooth connections, such as personal notebooks, smartphones, smartwatches, Bluetooth headphones, etc. to locate and track their movement in the dedicated area. For this purpose, a specific configuration of three BT sensors is used and RSSI levels compared, based on a combination of differential location estimates. The solution may also be suited for indoor localization where GPS signals are usually weak or missing; for example, in public places such as subway stations or trains, hospitals, airport terminals and so on. The applicability of this solution is estimated to be vast, ranging from travel and transport information services, route guidance, passenger flows tracking, and path recovery for persons suspected to have SARS-COV2 or other contagious viruses, serving epidemiologic enquiries. The specific configuration of Bluetooth detectors may be installed either in a fixed location, or in a public transport vehicle. A set of filters and algorithms for triangulation-based location of detected targets and movement tracking, based on artificial intelligence is employed. When applied in the public transport field, this setup can be also developed to extract additional information on traffic, such as private traffic flowing, or passenger movement patterns along the vehicle route, improved location in absence of GPS signals, etc. Field tests have been carried out for determining different aspects concerning indoor location accuracy, reliability, selection of targets and filtering. Results and possible applications are also presented in the final section of the paper.

Long-Term Traffic Prediction Based on LSTM Encoder-Decoder Architecture

Accurate traffic flow prediction is becoming increasingly important for transportation planning, control, management, and information services of successful. Numerous existing models focus on short-term traffic forecasts, but effective long-term forecasting of traffic flows have become a challenging issue in recent years. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a deep learning architecture which consisting of two parts: the long short-term memory encoder-decoder structure at the bottom and the calibration layer at the top. In the encoder-decoder model, we propose an hard attention mechanism based on learning similar patterns to enhance neuronal memory and reduce the accumulation of error propagation. To correct some of the missing details, we design a control gate in the calibration layer to learn the predicted data in groups according to different forms. The proposed method is evaluated on real-world datasets and compared with other state-of-the-art methods. It is verified that our model can accurately learn local feature and long-term dependence, and has better accuracy and stability in long-term sequence prediction.

The age-friendly cities characteristics from the viewpoint of elderly.

Background:Elderly population is rising due to advancement of health care, medical services, and increasing life expectancy. World Health Organization (WHO) has initiated a global project to define “age-friendly city for improving the elderly's quality of life”.Objectives:The purpose of the study was to determine the age-friendly cities characteristics from the elderly's point of view in Gorgan, Iran.Methods:This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2019 on elderly people who referred to the health centers of Gorgan, Iran. 160 eligible elderly people were recruited through multi-stage random sampling. The viewpoint of participants about the characteristics of Gorgan in the four age-friendly city indicators; urban and outdoor buildings, transport and transportation systems, information and communication services, and social support and health services was compared with the standard of WHO. Data were collected using the age-friendly city questionnaire and analyzed in SPSS-18 using Chi-square and one-sample t-tests.Results:From the elderly viewpoint, the mean score of 4 indicators; urban buildings and outdoor (58.50 ± 31.2), Transport and transportation system (43.3 ± 82.00), access to Information communication services (46.75 ± 15.1) and the level of access to social support and health services (81.43 ± 21.10). Considering age-friendly city indicators, the characteristics of Gorgan City were significantly lower than the WHO recommended standard (P < 0.001). The “Information and Communication” and “buildings and outdoor space” indicators had the highest and lowest differences from the standard, respectively.Conclusion:According to the present results it is recommended that managers and policymakers of urban planning and healthcare providers in their programs consider the elderly viewpoint to improve the urban characteristics as an age-friendly city.

City-Wide Traffic Congestion Prediction Based on CNN, LSTM and Transpose CNN

Traffic congestion is a significant problem faced by large and growing cities that hurt the economy, commuters, and the environment. Forecasting the congestion level of a road network timely can prevent its formation and increase the efficiency and capacity of the road network. However, despite its importance, traffic congestion prediction is not a hot topic among the researcher and traffic engineers. It is due to the lack of high-quality city-wide traffic data and computationally efficient algorithms for traffic prediction. In this paper, we propose (i) an efficient and inexpensive city-wide data acquisition scheme by taking a snapshot of traffic congestion map from an open-source online web service; Seoul Transportation Operation and Information Service (TOPIS), and (ii) a hybrid neural network architecture formed by combing Convolutional Neural Network, Long Short-Term Memory, and Transpose Convolutional Neural Network to extract the spatial and temporal information from the input image to predict the network-wide congestion level. Our experiment shows that the proposed model can efficiently and effectively learn both spatial and temporal relationships for traffic congestion prediction. Our model outperforms two other deep neural networks (Auto-encoder and ConvLSTM) in terms of computational efficiency and prediction performance.

The Influence of Information Services on Public Transport Behavior of Urban and Rural Residents

Rural and urban areas are mainly connected by public transport in China. The characteristics of the trips of local residents in rural and urban areas are different; therefore, the demand for public transport information services is different. Based on the revealed data, a structural equation model is applied to examine the critical factors affecting the behavior of urban and rural residents in choosing public transport in the Beidaihe District, Qinhuangdao City, China. The effect of information service factors on public transport behavior of urban and rural residents is obtained. The influence level of public transport information service on public transport behavior of urban and rural residents before and during travel is discussed. This study provides valuable insights to improving public transport services between urban and rural areas of China, which can attract more residents to use public transport and promotes sustainable development between urban and rural areas.

Spatiotemporal Congestion Recognition Index to Evaluate Performance under Oversaturated Conditions

We developed a congestion index for traffic management that uses link travel time based on global positioning system probe vehicle data. The congestion index can be used to evaluate the performance of an arterial network under oversaturated conditions. It considers congestion intensity and congestion duration, unlike existing congestion indices. After investigating current big traffic data, we selected the average link travel speed that could be collected at all times over a wide range to develop the congestion index. We used extra travel time as a new measure of effectiveness. The congestion criterion for monitoring oversaturated conditions was set as extra travel time with three congestion levels when traffic flow exceeded capacity. We devised the new congestion index by reflecting the three congestion levels to monitor oversaturated conditions macroscopically and to examine congestion characteristics microscopically. A spatiotemporal congestion recognition index (SCRIN) was defined based on congestion intensity and congestion duration. We analyzed SCRIN to monitor the traffic congestion of Seoul city using the data on travel speeds from the seoul transport operation and information service (TOPIS) for 2016.

Application of Index Models in Assessing the Foreign Economic Activity of Ukraine

The importance of statistical assessment of foreign economic activities in Ukraine, considering the structure and geographical re-orientation of the Ukrainian foreign trade and new challenges of the globalized and highly competitive market of goods and services, gives rise to the modeling of patterns underlying future tendencies in the development of the Ukrainian foreign trade. The article contains a description of approaches to the analysis of foreign economic activities in Ukraine by use of index models. Several index models are constructed and used for assessing the debt burden of Ukraine, the impact of selected sub-factors on it are determined, and the dynamics of the export quota in 2016–2017 are highlighted&#x0D; By use of the chain substitutions method it is found that the debt burden of Ukraine decreased in 2017, compared to 2016, by 21.0% due to the reduced import dependence of Ukraine, by 12.0% due to the partial debt burden, but increased by 4.1% due to the export losses. The results show that the strongest impact on the dynamics of debt burden of Ukraine came from the import dependence (56.6%), which means that the strict import quota remains the main factor of the increasing foreign debt of Ukraine, which caused 5.9% loss of export earnings in 2016, and 2.3% in 2017.&#x0D; The analysis of the export quota dynamics based on the index model showed that the impact of the international intraspecific specialization of the country on it was 43.2%, and the impact of the exports’ share in the foreign trade balance made 44.7%. That is, the main factors of change are the commodity and geographical specialization of Ukraine, as well as the imbalance in the foreign trade.&#x0D; Results of the analysis of the indices of averages show that due to the growth in export quotas of products of vegetable origin, fats and oils by 12.7%, and under the influence of the commodity structure of exports (–8.4%), the export quota increased by 3.2% in 2017 compared to 2012. The import quota of goods decreased by 17%, including by 7.6% due to the reduced import dependence of the country, and by 10.1% due to the changed structure of imports.&#x0D; Results of the analysis indicate significant change in the trend of export and import quotas of Ukraine on account of geographical reorientation: due to changes in the geographical structure of exports and imports of Ukraine, the export and import quotas decreased by 41.5%, and 32.2%, respectively.&#x0D; The analysis of the commodity structure of the Ukrainian foreign trade in 2012–2017 shows that the largest export positions were non-precious metals (ferrous metals and products made thereof), grain crops, fats and oils, electric machinery; in the exports of services, the largest share was accounted for by transport services, telecommunication services, computer and information services, processing of material resources, and business services. In the commodity structure of imports, mineral products had the largest share, which, however, decreased by 7.36 percentage points in 2017 compared to 2012. Imports of services are dominated by transport services and government services.&#x0D; The Russian Federation remains to be main partner in export-import operations of Ukraine: 9.1% of the Ukraine’s exports of goods in 2017, which is 16.53 percentage points less than in 2012; and 14.5% of the imports of goods in 2017, which is 17.86 percentage points less than in 2012. The main partner of Ukraine in the imports of services is the U.S., with 11.78% of the total imports of services in 2017, which is 6.7 percentage points more than in 2012.

Route Selection Behavior Analysis and Model Based on Scratch Degree

Existed many transportation information service system does not take into account the overall operation of the road network and the real-time intelligent guidance to drivers. This paper focuses on the analysis of the important factors such as the scratch degree and the travel time that affect the driver’s route choice behaviour, and the mathematical model and relative evaluation of the scratch degree are established. On this basis, combined with the multi-agent model method, the route selection behaviour model based on scratch degree under road network information is constructed, and the Repast S tool is used to carry out the simulation analysis. The analysis results show that the model can real-time optimize the route selection, reduce the driving time, effectively avoid the probability of congestion and scratch collision and improve the safety of travel.

SMART TSS: Defining transportation system behavior using big data analytics in smart cities

A smart city improves the quality of its citizens by providing access to ubiquitous services. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have a fundamental role in transforming a metropolitan area into a smart city. In the past two decades, many applications of ITS, e.g. city-wide traffic management and monitoring, smart parking, public transportation information services (bus, train, taxi, plane, etc.), logistics, real-time traffic, road speed limit monitoring and management etc., are deployed in smart cities. The sensors or mobile objects in ITS constantly generate mobility data and the scale at which this data is generated is witnessing an exponential increase in volumes. To store and subsequently analyze such massive data generated by sensors, new architectures are needed which are primarily designed for working with big data. In this work, we propose a big data analytics architecture for ITS. The proposed architecture has a built-in storage and analysis capability to work with ITS data and is composed of four modules, namely (1) Big Data Acquisition and Preprocessing Unit (2) Big Data Processing Unit (3) Big Data Analytics Unit and (4) Data Visualization Unit. A detailed analysis of ITS big data for monitoring the average speed of a vehicle at w.r.t. the time attribute is provided. The proposed architecture is evaluated using Hadoop thus validating the proof of concept. The empirical results are encouraging and open directions for future research.

Design of REST API for Local Public Transportation Information Services in Malang City

Abstract.Utilization of information technology in the field of public transportation has been proven in improving the quality of public transportation services. The availability of information technology that supports public transportation in Malang city is still limited. An effort is required to encourage the availability of information technology that support public transportation in Malang city. This research attempts to propose a draft proposal of REST API designed for supporting information about public transportation services in Malang city. The result of this research showed that the REST API should provide a search facility to find proper service mode of transportation, cost estimation, time estimation, calling or booking a public transportation, a list of all the modes of transportation that exist, as well as detailed information on a mode of transport in which includes the name of public transportation, index of comfortability, index of security, index of safety, index of privacy, index of availability, index of accessibility index, and route.Keywords: Transportation, Public Transportation, API, REST, Service-Oriented Architecture, Web Service.

Prototyping sustainable mobility practices: user-generated data in the smart city

ABSTRACTAlthough smart cities are now the subject of a growing literature, there is a paucity of research which considers how smart city projects develop on the ground. This paper begins to address this concern by exploring the development of a transport application, MotionMap, within the MK:Smart smart city programme. MotionMap aims to provide city-wide real-time transport information services. It is being developed through an ongoing dialogue sparked by the interaction of lead users and prototypes of a smart transport app. We draw on insights from Strategic Niche Management and social practice theories to explore how ‘smart’ might be integrated within and potentially transform the plurality of mobility practices that exist in cities.

An interdisciplinary approach to bus information system: bus sensor networking and drivers cognition

Seoul Transport Operation and Information Service (TOPIS) collects traffic information from specific systems such as the bus card system, the unmanned traffic control system, traffic broadcasting, and the police. The bus information system (BIS) is a sensor network system that scientifically deals with information about the real-time location and control of buses. Using the BIS, bus companies can manage bus operations and driver status. Bus sensor network also reveals that drivers have differing cognition about the two component parts of the system, the support system and the surveillance system. Although sensor networks are convenient tools for assessing quality of life, they do not always guarantee positive results in the workplace. We suggest ways for the sensor network to move forward in order to satisfy employees and improve performance in companies. This study is valuable as convergence research for the individual cognitive dimensions of sensor networks.

The urban project of HafenCity. Today’s Urban and Traffic profile of the area. Executive summary of methodology and traffic research conducted in the region

Abstract HafenCity is the largest, ongoing, urban regeneration program in Europe. The old port area of Hamburg is fully reconstructed with a series of urban planning, traffic and building interventions, in the context of sustainable development (middle road back, renewable energy buildings like “Greenpeace”, “Unilever”, etc., proofing infrastructure and new infrastructure from phenomena of natural disasters like floods, promotion policies of “sustainable mobility”. The northern part of the port is relocated (as a result of the gradual relocation trend and technological upgrading which had already begun in the 1960s throughout Europe) and Hamburg is first associated with the water element and the River Elbe along with a program of its fully environmental restoration. Also the Elbe is still used for a number of smart travel people and goods to and from Hamburg. The old “logistic” used buildings are tottaly replaced by new buildings with mixed uses. Hamburg is flipping its face at the liquid element. It also introduces and seeks the full protection of the wider area of HafenCity phenomena of floods and tides which proved fatal in the past through implementation of the project “Warft solution”. All new buildings and traffic infrastructure is now built at a height of 4.5-8.3 meters higher than the initial level and in old level created a regenerated track of historical walks a total length of 10.5 kilometers, creating in this way an additional network of public urban space, in the context of sustainable mobility. Also the new line of traffic means (U-4) gives new chances in the way of Sustainable mobility for the whole city Which is the current planning, traffic and environmental image of the region of HafenCity 15 years after the beginning of the program and on completion of 70% of the planned interventions? How this occurs by utilizing a set of indicators in the direction of Sustainable Development and Sustainable Mobility and what is its contribution to the modulation of total microclimate of the greater Hamburg region by removing a perfectly disturbing use of the center of the city? Which parameters and practices must be taken into account from now on for the Planning, Traffic and environmental shielding of HafenCity, on the basis of original objectives as they possibly today redefined?
