The Development of Stage Arts Driven by New Infrastructure

With the continuous advancement of stage technology, modern stage designers are able to operate various elements of stage art at a more sophisticated level, achieve more complex stage effect previews, and optimize the visual impact of performances. This technological advancement not only improves the rapid and accurate communication of design intent, but also gives stage design a highly personalized and innovative feature. The development trajectory of stage design shows the infinite possibilities of the integration of art and technology, and reveals the continuous leap from traditional handicrafts to modern stage machinery, and then to today s digital technology integration and innovation. This process highlights the vigorous vitality of stage design driven by the exploration of new processes and new materials, as well as its cutting-edge nature in exchanges and cooperation with other art categories and scientific fields. In future development, stage art design, as a multidisciplinary interactive field, will continue to play an important role in artistic creation and technological innovation, and constantly promote stage art to explore unknown areas.

Technical study on the early twentieth century’s embroidered women waistcoat in Gyalrong Tibetan area in Sichuan, China

In the early twentieth century, traditional handicraft was challenged by the latest technology in China. It is reflected by ethnic costumes combining new and old, as in the waistcoat of this study. This waistcoat made at Gyalrong Tibetan area in Sichuan, China, displays unique local features in terms of its brilliant colors and comprehensive craftsmanship. This study employs techniques such as optical microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope and high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to investigate various aspects of this waistcoat, including its fabrics and dyes. The results showed that the waistcoat was primarily made of cotton and silk, with a bamboo paper layer, and that silk as well as twisted gold and silver threads were employed for the embroidery. Various embroidery techniques were applied, with patterns, color combinations, and characteristics being consistent with those of Tibetan and Shu (蜀) embroidery. In terms of dyeing technology, a wide range of colors were achieved through multi-step dyeing processes using natural dye stuffs like pagoda bud, and synthetic dyes like magenta. These findings indicates that modern technologies were well integrated into traditional garment manufacture in the early twentieth century in China.

Development of an Interactive Platform for Traditional Handicrafts and Creative Works Based on WeChat Mini Programs

With the continuous improvement of modern living standards and the rapid development of science and technology, crafts produced by industrial mechanization have gradually replaced traditional handicrafts. In order to expand the dissemination range of traditional handicrafts, arouse people's enthusiasm for handmade art and promote traditional culture, this paper takes advantage of the operation convenience, recommendation personalization and informatization of WeChat applet to design and develop a green and healthy trading platform for traditional handicraftsmen, people who like to transform unused items into handicrafts or users who like all kinds of handicrafts. --Traditional Handicrafts and Creative Works Interactive Platform. This platform not only provides a trading platform for consumers, but also greatly promotes the development of handicraft products, and plays a positive role in the publicity and promotion of traditional handicrafts and creative works.

Non-Verbal Communication Aspect in Paper Umbrella Craft as Intangible Cultural Heritage in Malang

Paper umbrellas are one of the crafts included in the intangible cultural heritage of Malang, East Java. Currently, it is known that there is only one group of craftsmen who still produce this paper umbrella craft. Although not many of them, this paper umbrella craft still exists among people who like traditional handicrafts. This is evident from how often paper umbrella crafts appear at craft exhibitions in cities in Indonesia. Consequently, there is a pressing need for in-depth research on paper umbrella craftsmanship in Malang City. A valuable avenue for exploration is the examination of non-verbal communication aspects inherent in paper umbrella craftsmanship. This study aimed to determine the non-verbal communication aspects contained in paper umbrella crafts. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on analyzing non-verbal communication aspects. Data was collected using unstructured interview methods, documentation, and field surveys. The collected data was reduced for analysis using nonverbal communication theory. The study findings are presented descriptively, detailing the observed non-verbal communication aspects. The findings reveal three distinct categories of non-verbal communication aspects in paper umbrella craftsmanship: fixed features, semi-fixed features, and non-fixed features. Fixed features include shapes depicted on the umbrella. Semi fixed feature is a choice of material used to make paper umbrellas, colors, and motifs. The materials used are bamboo and paper. The colors of the umbrellas are red and green. The motif drawn on the umbrella is a floral motif. Flowers are present because they are the favorite shapes of the craftsmen who make umbrellas. Non-fixed features encompass the entire process of crafting paper umbrellas, from material preparation to final finishing touches. Keywords: umbrella paper, craft, tangible cultural heritage

SHIVARAPATNA STONE CRAFT IN KARNATAKA - EXPLORING THE TRANSFORMATIVE ROLE OF INNOVATION IN TRADITIONAL HANDICRAFT AND CULTURAL IDENTITY

Handicraft sector is one of the most sustainable product sectors, because of the consumption of untreated raw materials received unswervingly from the nature. In many developing countries like India, there are a large number of livelihoods depending on handicraft business with an anticipated 17.79 million artisans associated with the sector in the year 2022. The previous studies indicate the relation between the handicrafts and innovation is both controversial and imperative. It is suggested that the sector must undergo incremental innovation for growth and survival in the present times. On contrary there are studies which dispute, considering cultural traditions as barriers to innovation. Innovation may be introduced in the technologies aiding to create the craft. While bringing innovation within the craft techniques and product creation might hinder its cultural identity. Innovation being one of the prime keyword of the 9th goal of the SDGs, the goal of this research is to study how introducing innovation in cultural craft production affects the identity of the traditional handicraft. For the findings, rapid ethnography was performed for the exquisite Shivarapatna stone craft. The craft uses ancient knowledge of Shilpashashtra to hand-craft the intricate Hindu idol statues from granite, and the associated community and the craftsmen are situated in the Kolar district of Karnataka, India. An experiment will be conducted to diversify the stone made craft products to analyse the outcome. The representational difference of the traditional craft products and the innovative craft products are then compared and presented with images. In addition to the comparative analysis, methodology also focuses on the descriptive approach in the handicraft.

Examination of Digitalized Non-Heritage Apparel Design Using CLO3D: Case Study of Ningbo Gold and Silver Color Embroidery

Driven by the wave of digitalization and fashion, traditional handicrafts in intangible cultural heritage (ICH) have experienced a remarkable transformation in the existing social value coordinate system. On the one hand, as a key carrier of the historical and cultural memory of the nation and the state, intangible cultural heritage is faced with many challenges of preservation and inheritance; on the other hand, the rapid development of digital technology provides innovative solutions for the modernization of traditional arts. This paper uses Ningbo gold, silver and color embroidery as a case study to explore the application of CLO3D software technology in the design of nonheritage apparel products and shows nonheritage crafts through digital simulation technology, which is not only the future development direction of the apparel industry but also the reconstruction of the apparel form and the use of function, aiming to assess its impact on nonheritage protection and innovation and to find a new path for the digital inheritance of nonheritage.

Protection of Handicraft Skills from the Perspective of Folklore Studies

Handicraft skills and material culture are a research perspective of folklore and a major landscape of various ethnic customs in China. The long history, vast territory, and clever and wise Chinese people have formed a colorful and diverse folk handicraft technique. Under the diverse paths of design participation in handicraft innovation, handicrafts have undergone semantic, functional, and situational transformations in contemporary times, presenting an ecosystem of alienation and diversification. This article takes the ceramic craftsmanship of Yaozhou kiln as an example to explore how to improve the construction of national cultural soft power by protecting local traditional handicrafts.

Handwoven interior accessories from palm leaves as sustainable elements

PurposeThis paper argues that cultures with the same climate have similar handicrafts as they have similar cultivation and identical raw materials. This study focuses on how mountainous, coastal and hot regions partaking in similar crafts and cultural heritage use palm leaves and analyses the resulting handicrafts' similarities.Design/methodology/approachA review of mapping these samples establishes this similarity in the traditional industries of some civilizations' cultural heritage from countries sharing similar climates.FindingsThe handwoven crafts using palm leaves were significant patrimonial artifacts in different societies' and communities' cultural heritage. Our studies revealed that climate plays an active role in influencing all aspects of humanity’s life. It affects the construction methods and style, agriculture and lifestyles.Research limitations/implicationsTraditional handwoven palm leaf product models, especially plates and baskets, are studied from South America, Africa, Gulf Countries and Asia.Practical implicationsAdditionally, this paper focuses on preserving these treasures as an essential part of interior elements as accessories for most inhabitants of these areas.Social implicationsCultural heritage also embraces intangible aspects such as skills passed down through generations within a particular society. The tangible and intangible elements complement each other and contribute to an overall legacy.Originality/valueCultural heritage reflects a society’s way of life carried down through the years across lands, items, customs and aesthetic concepts. People are the gatekeepers of society, as they preserve their way of life for future generations to emulate. Tangible artistic and cultural heritage comprises artifacts. It comprises all human evidence and expressions, such as traditional handicrafts, pictures, documents, books and manuscripts.

The Chinese national culture is broad and profound, with many wonderful cultural and artistic treasures. Flower lantern is one of the traditional folk crafts in ancient China. Quanzhou flower lantern has unique craft characteristics, long history and rich cultural connotation, and is also a national intangible cultural heritage protection project. The main research object of this paper is based on the artistic characteristics of "needled boneless lantern". Through literature analysis, induction and extraction, design practice and other methods, this paper extracts and analyzes its historical and cultural connotation, art form appreciation, traditional pattern technology, and combines it with modern technology to explore and summarize, feel the unique charm of oriental culture, and form a diversified collision between traditional handicraft culture and modern brand design.

Research on Moral Education Strategies for Vocational College Students Integrating Traditional Chinese Culture

By combining theoretical discussion with practical cases, this study aims to deepen the understanding of traditional cultural values of Higher Vocational College(HVC) students, and urge them to integrate these values into their career and social interaction. In the setting of educational goals, we have made clear the importance of cultivating students' traditional moral values such as kindness, filial piety and loyalty, and the positive role of these values in individual development and social interaction. Through the design of integrated courses, we are committed to providing a comprehensive and in-depth learning experience, so that students can better understand the value of traditional culture in practice and apply it to real life. Emphasizing practice and experience is one of the focuses of this study. We let students feel the charm of traditional culture by community service, traditional handicraft production and field trip. In text reading, we choose Chinese traditional literary classics for in-depth interpretation, and help students better understand the moral wisdom contained in the text through discussion and group cooperation. Through this study, we expect to provide a series of scientific and effective strategies for the moral education of HVC students, aiming at cultivating moral personality with traditional cultural connotations and further promoting the inheritance and development of traditional culture in the field of HVC education.

Converting the Intangible Cultural Heritage into the Economical Value in the Perspective of Creative Economic: A Case Study of "Tantou New Year Prints"

Based on the Chinese intangible cultural heritage " Tantou New Year Prints " as the research subject, within the perspective of the "creative economy" in the cultural and creative industries, the basic paths of cultural exploration, focusing on pain points, form translation, and urban regeneration are employed to explore its contemporary value. In the research process, a model is constructed to theoretically innovate and regenerate the "art" of the " Tantou New Year Prints " era. In practice, it hones the "skills" of the era, achieving a mutually reinforcing and winning convergence. Through this exploration, a feasible pathway is established within the perspective of the "creative economy" for the intervention of traditional handicrafts in a corner of the contemporary creative industry network. This provides an effective path and practical validation for the innovation and inheritance of excellent traditional culture in the new era.

The Safeguarding of Indigenous Intangible Cultural Heritage in China: From Both Government and Private Sides

ICH, Intangible cultural heritage, including traditional theatre, traditional handicrafts, oral literature and so on, is a concept put forward by the UNESCO in 2003. Its most fundamental characteristic is its “dynamism”, which often changes with the environment. Variables that influence the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage include inheritors, national policies, laws and regulations, etc. And because there are so many variables, it is often more difficult to protect intangible cultural heritage than tangible cultural heritage. Intangible cultural heritage is an important part of China’s cultural treasury. In recent times, due to the impact of industrial civilisation, some ancient intangible cultures have been faced with problems such as lack of successors and loss of skills. In modern times, the Chinese government pays more attention to the protection of ICH. In this test. This paper will take the national intangible cultural heritage, Jingjiang palm puppetry, as an example to explore the protection and inheritance of China’s localised intangible cultural heritage from two perspectives: the government and the private sector.

Customers’ Prior Knowledge in the Servitization of Traditional Handicrafts

To enhance the competitiveness of the traditional handicraft industry, providers should offer service experiences using their products (i.e., servitization) instead of merely selling them. Effective management for servitization in the traditional handicraft industry must consider the differences in customers’ prior knowledge. Nevertheless, previous studies have overlooked how this knowledge about traditional handicrafts impacts service experiences. This study explores which factors of consumer behavior (during services) and service outcomes (post-services) are affected by customers’ prior knowledge about a traditional handicraft. An organic food restaurant booth was provided at an annual summer festival about pottery as an experiment, and data were collected on customers’ meal experiences with a pottery plate through a questionnaire. The findings suggest that customers’ prior knowledge about a traditional handicraft promotes their search for information from service resources (i.e., organic foods) which are integrated with the traditional handicraft and their creativity during services, thereby changing their understanding of service resources and increasing satisfaction with service experience. This study contributes to services marketing by identifying the factors of during and post-services that are affected by customers’ prior knowledge about a traditional handicraft in the context of servitization.

Agriculture and traditional handicrafts are deeply ingrained in Indias rural terrain, and cottage businesses have emerged as a key component in maintaining rural livelihoods. This abstract explores the complex aspects of the function that cottage industries play in rural Indias socio-economic structure. Cottage industries, which are sometimes confused with small-scale businesses, cover a broad range of pursuits, from contemporary pursuits like small-scale manufacturing and internet businesses to traditional handicrafts, handloom weaving, ceramics, and agro-processing. These sectors, which have their roots in rural Indias rich cultural legacy, provide major contributions to job creation, income production, and skill development-all of which are critical for reducing poverty. Cottage industries promote inclusive growth by giving people in disadvantaged communities of society more possibilities to find work. For example, women in rural regions frequently use cottage enterprises to achieve financial independence and self-empowerment. The case studies and success stories in this abstract demonstrate how cottage enterprises have a transforming effect on gender dynamics in rural areas. The role of cottage industries in rural livelihoods in India is a dynamic and evolving narrative. This abstract provides insights into the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of cottage industries, emphasizing their potential as catalysts for inclusive and sustainable rural development. Understanding and nurturing these industries is crucial for unlocking the full potential of rural economies and fostering a more resilient and empowered rural India.

Large-scale fabrication and characterization of SiC nanowire thermal insulation paper by a traditional handcraft paper-making process

SiC nanowire paper composed of SiC nanowires, possesses extensive industrial applications owing to its remarkable properties of low thermal conductivity, fire resistance and foldability. In this work, centimeter-scale SiC nanowires were successfully synthesized via a sol-gel and carbothermal reduction reaction. Subsequently, the simple and convenient traditional handcraft paper-making process enables the non-oriented intertwining of nanowires, forming a paper-like structure. Experimental results show that the thermal conductivity of silicon carbide nanowire paper with a thickness of 0.7 mm is 0.041 W/m∙K at room temperature, which is far lower than that of the traditional porous ceramics because of its nanoporous structure. Moreover, upon heating the nanowire paper to 300 °C, a significant temperature difference of approximately 150 °C was observed between its front and back surfaces, and it was able to withstand the butane flame (∼1300 °C) heat treatment for a long time, which indicated that the nanowire paper had obvious low thermal conductivity, good thermal insulation and refractory properties. These characteristics ensure the promising application of SiC nanowire paper for thermal insulation and fire resistance applications.

This paper aims to transform Internet celebrity elements into the Yingjing black sand product design to discuss the development of traditional handicraft products and the design methods and design models of cultural products derived from traditional handicrafts.
